Protean screwed ?

Post by msxyz »

No, I'm not talking about the Lvl 5 bug but rather of its effectiveness.

I've started playing with a gangrel, pumping up brawl and strenght and I couldn't notice how bare fists are way faster and have a longer reach than claws. Not only claws seems slower but they also leave you more open for an attack. Something I never experienced fighting with fists or a knife where I could easily manage to push a fiend into a corner and beat him without leaving him the time to react.

A game unbalance ? Is there a way to modifiy the range and speed of the attacks to bring them at least in par with bare hands ?

well, If you could push an enemy in a corner an repeatedly knock him down, making him unable to defend himself, I would rather call that an unbalance, rather than not being able to.

<Trak3r> that's "yoda" speak for "i need to eat a man"

well, I think it's not that much unbalanced, since it's part of the fighting tech.
If you manage to close you opponent into a corner att able to keep him occupied battering him with your fists. The monster should have trouble defending itself.

It kinda realistic, not some unbalanced act...

Although the game AI aint smarter, but if you met a real player That wouldn't happen...

We could also call it unbalance with stealth lvl 5. move soundless crouching up behind of a monster and do the neckdance...
no advanced skill neeeded either..
just some experience..

same would be with high brawl and strength...you drink blood while being shot at without loosing your target...

Protean Paralysis

Often when going into higher levels of Protean, my Gangrel becomes unable to move except to stand and fight in place. I have to hit F8 to lose Protean to be able to move again

Ok, I played with the scripts a little...

Claws are considered a weapon and their scripts are located in the \vdata\items folder. According to the variables, the speed rate of the protean claws should be the same of bare fists yet I know this isn't true. Lowering the value of the "attack rate" from 0.5 to 0.2 gives a better result. To counter balance the increment in speed, I've decreased lethality so now each strike does less damage. I prefer this arrangement
