Xyx,

You're right on with the triple classes--they were one of the first classes I experimented with and field-tested using the CLUA console. I also started two solo games with them. Yeah, that's the annoying thing, that both triple classes include a mage and your mage doesn't get to level 9/10 spells such as Improved Alacrity and Dragon's Breath. But you do get all the cleric spells as well as cleric quest spells if you are part-cleric, you do get close to the base THACO cap of 0 if you're part fighter, and you do get all the ability points you will ever want as well as tons of traps and use any itme if you're part thief.

Now as far as NPC's, Jaheria is awesome, so is Aerie.

Raven,

Yeah, I might still bring along a blade (skalds are extinct by the way because everyone gets the same superior song) as a team player, maybe 6 of 6 or '7 of 9,' but they're just not that powerful anymore, they've "slid" in the relative rankings at least in my book from where they were in BG II.

Now, the fighter/mage multi-class IS a classic, and it is one of the best in TOB. They fight just as well as regular fighters, plus they get all the mage spells from A to Z including level 10 spells. The only drawback is that they only get 2 level 9/10 spell slots and this comes close to the TOB XP cap. In contrast, a sorcerer gets 6 level 9/10 spell slots near the beginning as soon as they reach level 20. But if you go with a gnome illusionist/fighter (and you definitely SHOULD), then you get one extra spell per level for being a specialist including one extra level 9/10 spell.

(BTW the dwarven fighter/cleric is also awesome, in fact after several aborted solo attempts, I finally "broke on through to the other side" and got to final save with 'Flint.')
