What is your favourite edition of AD&D

1st is mine because I find all of the rules understandable. I think the new rules have totally changed AD&D into a different game totally.

You lumped 3.0 and 3.5 together.

Well they are mixable.

I actually like 3.5, there are less different dice needed. Some of my friends would have probably tuned out if they had to learn 2ed.

I do feel that 3.5 is a bit to combat orientated, plus is makes you dependant on more and more books... but I guess other editions had the same problem.

The d3, d4, d6, d8, d10, d12 and d20, just like in 3.0

I always the game is as combat orientated as you wan't it to be, to a certain extent.

I was introduced to 1st ed. by my Dad when I was 10, and whenhe started playing that was the only ed. so now that I am used to playing that I find other editions complicated or just way too different.

Nah I meant the d20 system. Everthing starts with a d20 while in other editions you started with other dice.

I consider 3.0 and 3.5 as one. The rules are the same, 3.5 has only balance and gameplay adjustments.

having played all 1,2,3,3.5 i think 3.5 is the best because you can make up whatever you want and call it what you want. but i would play any of the editions .

Definitely 3.0 with some 3.5 thrown in.

I've been playing DnD longer than some of you youngens have been alive. Started with 1st Ed in '78, and been playing non-stop since then. Edition 3.0 is *by far* the easiest to use, play and GM. It is the only edition I would introduce a newbie to, and it certainly is the preferred edition of all my DnD playing friends.

1st and 2nd Ed were okay. Too many problems. Too may inconsistencies and unbalancing components. I'm not saying 3rd is without problems - it has them by the dozen - but it is the tightest and least buggy version.

I don't like a lot of the changes in 3.5 and so have not adopted them.
