A few things I could've done without

Post by Skuld »

Well as I'm playing I've noticed a few things that could've been toned down. Two things in particular: The fact that thae kid in the Hobbes cave whines way more then any child should, and hitting him doesn't shut him up(that woulda been a nice touch), and he dies too easily. I don't think they should've put such a weenie in a cave full of constantly respawning hobbes. It can be done, but not on my first try that's for sure. Second the guildmaster constantly reminding you of questcards and whatnot. It's not nearly as bad as the first one, but I wouldn't mind if it there were less of it. And then there's my final gripe. The damn saving system. If the stupid kid dies I can't just go back to where I last saved and he was alive, I have to do the whole darn thing over. OK this is gonna require the MUTE button if I'm gonna make it through this quest without breaking something.

Um... Fable Modder to the rescue! You know those two can be solved by going Option first and select no captions then Audio Options and turn in game voice off. About the dying one, its bloody easy just to load up phy shield then leave him at the end of the tunnels and start enflame the crap out of hobbes. I always get through Hobbe Cave even if the kid tags along while I burn Hobbes to death, donno how it can be so hard for you. He only whined 4 times before I get out usually, once each in main chamber, focus chamber, moonlit tunnel and cave entrance.

I dunno what it is, but I made it through this quest fine the first time I played before I was forced to buy a new x-box. I think it's becuase he loses most of his health while I'm trying to kill the damn pixie(it's tough with lvl 1 lightning). One of the spawned hobbes will usually got off to fight him on the other side of the room and i'll miss him completely until I see the brat's health down in the red.

I'm just gonna forget about it for now, and go back when I need the silver key.

Tip: Best weapon to use against a giggling nymph is a bow. Target and hold with your left trigger and keep an arrow at full stretch until she appears.
then shoot her.
depending on your bow/stats, one shot normally normally does the trick.

And even if you have a cruddy bow/ accuracy, you could always use multi-arrow, which is always usefull for multiplying one's firepower. (especially at higher levels)
Get up, stand up. Come on, throw your hands up.
If you've got the feeling, Jump across the ceiling.

I was just using lightning, and that seemed to be taking forever. Maybe next time I'll give the crummy crossbow a try. Or maybe I'll see about Fireballing her.

One thing that DID annoy me about that quest (apart from the kid's constant whining) was that he wouldn't do what he was bloody told!
i tell him to wait at the door of the tunnel while i kill some hobbes and he just starts crying and decides to bloody follow me!

little bastard. turned-out he was scared of the bandit that was still with me.
once he was dead he piped-down.

Nah after I finished the quest I made sure I put an arrow in his back. That way he would not do anymore excessive whining. As for granny I was nice to her. I went inside her house and proceeded to breaking all the windows, then after she started complaining and cowering came up to her and took my stick and proceeded in beating her to death. Only thing I wish I could have done was burn her place to the ground. That would of added a nice touch to it.

Now that you mention it, the little kid did seem to follow me a bit even after I told him to stay put.
