http://www.gamebanshee.com/baldursgatei ... guides.php

Towards the bottom are some guides on soloing SoA and ToB with various characters, I don't think there is a 'best' character to solo with but my first and only solo experience was with a Fighter/Mage/Thief and that was extremely fun :D .

Nothing makes you feel as powerful as an uncapped sorceror :D

Well except for...

The Druid/Sorcerer ;)

Ok it's a mod; nonetheless simply great!

Fighter/Mage/Thief gets my vote for a first solo attempt ;)

I'll throw support behind this one.. go to Xyx's spell page or UserUnfriendly's cheese page to see why.

SPOILERS: Highlight for my powergaming

What I *love* to do is get the staff of magi early. After finishing Chateau Irenicus you sell those nice little wands to a store person and do the Circus quest, on completion it's easy to be level 10 or 11 by then.

Go to the slums, possibly doing the slavers quest for a little money. Remembering that it's amazingly easy to kill trolls with Chromatic Orb (Level 10 or 11 Pertrification). Now then hop on over to the government district and pick up Jan for a temporary buddy (optional but speeds things up).

Go to the shadow thieves and initate the Mae'var Guild hall quest. Go to the second level of the guild hall and pick the doors for a rogue stone and a few potions of thievery. Head back to the Promanade and steal those tasty little wands back, especially the cloudkill and summoning one and boot Jan. Make sure you buy a Protection from magic scroll from the adventurers mart and run down to the bridge district to fight the Hidden Rune.

~

Cast knock on the appropriate door and enter the Hidden Rune using your rogue stone. Once you enter just cast a group of summons near the door spreading them out far apart and use your protection from magic scroll. Now trot into the main room and Shanglar will start chatting with you. Once he's done walk up into the top corner of the room and cast cloudkills from your wand onto the mage and the beholder while their magic spells have no effect on you.

If done right Revenek and the Sharisa will run into the area where your summons (and Shanglar) are and attempt to kill them instead of chasing you, leaving the beholder and the staff using mage to cast spells fruitlessly on you.

Pick up your well earned staff and melee lich boy and no armour boy into extra exp goodness. (You can't kill the vampire, don't bother :S )

~

So I'm level 11 and armed with the most powerful staff in the game before even two game days have passed. Not to mention a series of extremely potent wands like monter summoning and cloudkill = soloing is a breeze.

As a side note instead of using Jan it's possible to simply do quests and make the money to buy the cloud kill wand and simply using the spell knock to get the rogue gem.

Love The F/M/T especially when you get high level abilities :D

Gives you three players in one

More specific (just a little)

1. Spellwise
Sorcerer (or with Mod: Mystik Theurge (Druid/Sorcerer up to 10 spellslots for spellevel 9 without items))
Nothing can beat chain contingency + wish without the need to memorise them

2. Allround
Fighter(Kensai via SK for overkill)/Mage/Thief
2Handed Style
2H Sword (Carsomyr +5 via UAI)
Staff for backstab

3. And all the other usual suspects as:
Kensai/Mage
Berserker/Cleric
Thief(Assassin(SK multiclass) or Swashbuckler)/Cleric
Shapeshifter/Fighter

Monk

4. Search is your friend
