Kriser Quest Question

I just finished the Kiser quest in Saradush, after I killed everyone and released the son I found a trap on the floor in the basement.

When I disarmed the trap there was a switch which I flipped, then it said I could hear the muffled sounds of gears. Dose anybody know whats that all about because I cant find a thing and its driving me crazy.

It appears that switch, combined with 2 others in the room, opens the same door that Kiser's key opens. Apparently this means you can finish the room without ever facing Kiser.
