Does anyone else feel cheated?
I'm not saying that the game was bad or dissapointing or anything, but don't most of you guys feel that the game could have been SOOOOOOO much better?? I mean, the map is pretty small (I thought it was gonna be like morrowind [well, maybe not just like morrowind ] ), the main story was really abrupt and fragmented (we didn't even learn anything about the bloodline or the old kingdom, except the fact that they existed), there wasn't even a difficulty slider (which would have been VERY good ) and while the level of depth was ok, there could have been more things to do (like smithing, enchanting, etc.)
Considering that the game was set back for almost four years, it still feels kinda rushed to me. What do you guys think?

Get up, stand up. Come on, throw your hands up.

I love the game and I'm not changing my mind about it, I think the game is great; however, it can be sorta disappointing when you think about the time it took them to bring it to us, I didn't hear of it until late April last year so it wasn't much of an expectation for me but once I got into it and began to read the posts from 3 years ago I realize why would so many ppl would be upset or disatisfied about it.
I have enjoyed the game since the moment I got it, I'm not having great expectations for it's sequel, hoping it'll happen of course, like I told a guy the other day, there's nowhere to go wrong now, the 1st one wasn't the smash hit ppl were waiting for they can ammend it on the sequel.
Hey Frost, are you some kind of tester for L.H. or B.B.B.? or even a developer? how can you say the stuff you say? can you prove it?... I've read about Project Ego and I've seen the screen shots but I am yet to find a review which tells us that the missing parts were on it and simply removed due to space limitation, which would definitely make sense as the images I've seen from P.E. are far too defined and would take up a whole lot of space.. so can you explain yourself!?

Check the 3rd line of credits under Work Experience Testers, I literally opened every file Fable have on the disk and checked for threads and missing objects. You know why there isn't a review? Because Project Ego have not been released to the public! Since you can't edit Fable, I can assure you that the disk was full and some contents were removed due to Processor Time. Don't Believe me? Ask Mr.Molyneux himself, even he said in the Lionhead forum that he had to remove the growing trees factor due to the fact that it takes up 15% processor time.

I do feel very dissapointed, I read alot of reviews about the game and looked deep into it, I would have imagined that after so many years they would have come up with something better, I mean look at morrowind. Look how big and free range that is, and thats on the Xbox, and can do more stuff. The idea was good, the ability to grow old, the way it was designed, and the graphics were extremely good..but it was just to short for my liking, to me it's the sort of game you pick up, play once put it away and never play it again forgetting about it, there was no real difference in the story line from being good or bad, the missions were the same, the key missions could be done as a good or bad character, there was no variety to it at all.
The Problem is...
The problem right now is not with these so called "half assed programmers"; it is with the mediums currently avaliable. The mediums that are avaliable now just aren't capable of holding all the information required(You know all those advancements you would like....) And even if they did have the medium required to transfer this information, then what? You would still want more and more. You look at the bad points of Fable instead of the good points. I mean look at it, look at the graphical detail. That sort of detail wasn't avaliable 5-6 years ago. Look at the playstation games and look at the ones we have now; take Legend of the Dragoons for instance; that was a great game and probably one of the best looking games for the playstation but it was in four disks. Now your probably thinking what does that have to do with anything? Simple, that game could easily fit in to one disk now(having the same quality of graphics) with more fluid gameplay. The problem with games now is that we are running out of medium power; it has nothing to do with "half assed programmers." People go in to the gaming buisness not only to make money but to have fun aswell. You all put down the game but don't look at what's in it. A lot of hard work and commitment; dreams even. You put down what you couldn't accomplish? If you want these things then do what a lot of modification users do; make the game to your liking or make a game even. It isn't as simple as just demanding things and expecting them to get done. Respect what you have in games instead of what you don't have. Because you will never be satisified in what you recieve. Just wait; good games will come.

that's quite true. it is more difficult to create a game for a console than it is for a PC. You are seriously limited by the hardware available and so you have to squeeze as much performance out of it as possible. if anything, PC Game programmers can allow themselves to become lazy. I feel sorry for the poor bastards that have got to make Half Life 2 work on the XBox.
As for storage: I have no problems with games spanning more than one disc. PC games did it all the time. (although that will prove difficult with the XBox since the eject doubles as a reset button)

I don't mind with CD swapping either,a great (long) game like baldur's gate 2 is huge, like 3GB of space required for all of it,and had 5 diff. CDs 4 it,constant swapping was annoying but u get used to it .
If lionhead could do the same 4 Fable 2 and make a truly magnificent sequel, one that actually has a half decent story line and cutscene animations,it would be much more successful.

The button acts as a reset too...
Well the button does act like a rest. But the problem is that will only work for a short time...Besides people want expansive games with no loading time, or little to none if possible. No one wants to put down their wireless remote and have to get up and go to the box and push the button and flop in another disk. People are too lazy for those type of things. Point proven through these forms, people whining and complaining instead of acting out on things and making things to their liking.

If ur unhappy with too much loadings and swappings then let's just do this EXAMPLE: game strts, user selects char profile,XBOX asks 4 all the discs in order, loads up all the game information, then u just put in the play disc and no problem at all, although loading up all the info from the discs can be tedious if u plan on changing profiles..
Yeah!
Disapointed? VERY! I had much higher expectations for this. It's been said before... small map, no enchanting, no smithing, and, what buggs me a lot but isn't a big deal really, no ice/ water spells! Why wouldn't they include some water spells? Or maybe poison? Maybe I'm still stuck in Morrowind but this could've been an incredible game and it just... wasn't! It was good... not good enough though.

Since Xbox 2 (or whatever it's going to be called) is coming around, They might as well make Fable 2 for it, because the upgrades the system will have (rumor from a reliable source *OXM* says it will not be backwards compatible due to limiting the upgrades) will be huge compared to the Xbox. So maybe Fable 2 will have the stuff Project Ego wanted, along with more neat stuff. Another example of what I'm saying is look at screen shots and interviews for The Elderscrolls IV: Oblivion. Time Will Tell.

If you want a good laugh, read some of the earliest threads, pre-release, where people where drooling over Fable based on publicity hype. Check out my measured, skeptical reaction, and the way other, so-far-more-knowledgeable-because-less-cynical types either chuckled condescendingly or cried in outrage.
