Thorium Charges and Sith Holocron
I'm doubting this is pertinent info, but since the Walkthrough makes it seem as though you must choose one set of thorium charges for either the room in the Sith Academy OR the weapons Cache on Dxun, I thought I'd mention that you can get an extra stash of thorium charges from the Sullustan merchant on Dantooine. You can either kill him and take it (Dark Side), or buy them for 1,000 credits as a bribe to convince him to join the militia. Just throwin' that out there if anyone needs an extra stash.
As for the holocron, Revan had been a light side character when I last played through, and the holocron was destroyed when I blew the door. Coincidentally, I'm right outside the door in Korriban now, and I'm currently playing a game where Revan had been evil. I will test this theory after work today.

When you guys say breaks, does that mean it doesn't run at all or that there is more to the message that you don't get to see? I've only played through once, as the light side, and I managed to blow through the door a message where Bastila talked to me. I don't remember what kind of Demolitions skill I had, but I managed to see the or at least part of the recording.
"It's a trap!" -Admiral Ackbar
It doesn't matter if you're dark/light or female/male. All that matters is that you chose Revan to be dark side. Then you will see the recording of Bastila from the Holocron. Needless to say, if you chose Revan to be light side the game assumes Bastila was redeemed as well. Hence she never did the recording and the holocron will just appear broken.
Also if you chose Revan to be light side, you will see Bastila in person talking to Carth later in the game after the invasion of Telos.

I've only went into this room once, I use the Thorium charges on Dxun, but I didn't damage the holocron when I did it, and it was the first planet that I went to. Strange.
"I shall think that the sky, the air, earth, colours, shapes, sounds, and all external things are merely the delusions of dreams which a demon of the utmost power and cunning has devised in order to ensnare my judgement." (Descartes, Meditations)
By "shards", Ryngard probably means that the holocron is irreparably damaged.
As far as I know, the case is as follows:
a) it does not matter if the Exile is male or female, dark or light; neither does the order of planets visited matter nor how high his/her demolitions skill is;
b) what does matter is only and alone what sex and alignment you gave to REVAN during the conversation with Atton on Peragus II. If Revan was light, whether male or female, the holocron will ALWAYS be damaged, broken, in shards or whatever you call it, meaning you won't get any message out of it. If you say that Revan was male and dark, you will see a holo of Bastila talking about what happened to her after Revan left. I'm not completely sure about Revan being female and dark, but I think you also get a Bastila holo message, with different lines.

So I'm guessing that you have to set Revan as Lightside Male to get Bastila to talk to Carth? I set Revan as a Lightside Female and only got Carth. Also did anyone actually hear Carth talk when T3 plays the holo, and if so what the heck did he say? I never hear the audio!!! Just see a blue Carth which while interesting is annoying his mouth moves and nothing comes out!! LOL

what you do is choose Revan being dark side when you talk to atton in the beginning of the game i don't remember if male or female was important or not if you do this then when you blow the door the holocron should stay intact i learned that after 15 times beating the game. it helps that i was a tester. Hope this helps.
