Easter Egg Spoilers

Sexual connotation aside, Mount Vesuvious (sp) was the volcano that exploded and buried the city of Pompeii.

If you ask the fortune teller, "Will I win?" She says, "It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, but if you paid for the game." :D

And for The Running Man, NEVER EVER say that movie was based off the Bachman books. That's heresy, the only 2 things the book and movie had in common was the title and the main character's name. Read the book, far better than the flick ;)

Easter Eggs

Hiya All

There are in fact many film references etc through out the entire game!
Has anyone noticed the name on the clock in Trips pawn shop?? (Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy :) )
or the Call Of Duty pinball machine in The Last Round
How the red headed prozzie, bares a striking resemblance to Kirstin Dunst???
or the girl by the lift in the Red Dragon looks like Natalie Portman??
and did the Sheriff steal his sword off Cloud from FF7?

i'm working on a list of the many that myself and friends have found at the moment as soon as i have managed to get it into some sort of order i will post it in this forum
If It Aint Broke Dont Fix It !! :D

Another...

There was one I thought was cool. The computer book in the internet cafe has the title "Cowboy's Guide to Cyberspace by Case." This is a reference to William Gibson's "Neuromancer," an incredibly influential work of science fiction from the early 80's. In fact, Gibson's "Neuromancer" is credited with inventing the term "cyberspace." Great book!

Nah, there are plenty of ridiculously large swords to go around.

What about Mitnick?

And Futurama references? Like "sexlexia".

And the computer with the blue screen of death and some stuff about the infamous "any" key.

The Joker

"The call me the Space Cowboy
they call me the gangster of love..."

the whole game is chock-full of references - Jaime Sue the in-game rifle - is a person listed in the end-game credits.

a lot of dialogue options are derived, but as homage to the originals, not laziness.

It is part of the charm of such games to find them and laugh at fun being poked.

check out the kamikaze zen office door names and the people named on computers - you'll probably spot references I have missed.

Just found another one, this time from Seinfeld. You get asked what line of work you're in, and you can answer:

1. Real Estate.
2. I'm an import/exporter.
3. I'm an architect.
4. Race car driver/Astronaut.

If I'm not mistaken that's from "The Stakeout".

Don't think anyone's mentioned this one before. The guy in the graveyard, Romero, has the same name as the guy who created the original Dawn of the Dead, George Romero. Dawn of the Dead, for those who may not be aware is a movie about zombies.

la la la

I think no one mentioned it in this thread
but in Santa monica in the beach
theres this woman who tells fortune (forgot her name :)
i once talked to her and one of my Dialouge options was
"will i win the game?" (or something similar)
and she said

"it is not important if you win the game it is that you bought it"

its prolly not very accurate Cuz it was the begining of the game and i'm about to end it so i dont remmember very well

but u got the Point :D

I just played through this part again. :) I believe its "Its not important if you win or lose, but if you bought the game." Still, that's a great quote, as the multiple meanings of bought make you think about that quote's purpose...

Corrections based on the comment by Arturcic.

The guy in the graveyard again the reference to his shotgun as boomstick. That is a reference to the weapon of Ash in the Evil dead movies.
And it just so happens we got an Ash running around.
The Luckee star hotel inner courtyard has a resemblance to a set of Beverly Hills 90210, don't know if the internals of the different rooms are correct didn't watch the serie

maybe not lol as much as misread blueprints

Skyline Apartments has 13 above ground floors, Ground + 6 suites with 2 floors each. But, it's only a 5 story building. Must be some sort of feng shui.
Ash IIRC is the name of the 'hero' in the living dead movies.and the reference to his shotgun.
The movies are "Evil Dead" and, yes, the main character's name is Ash (played by the GREAT Bruce Campbell).

Another thing I just noticed yesterday while playing my Malk:
When u talk to Skelter, the anarch who wants u to get rid of Patty the ghoul, u address him as Helter Skelter, a song by The Beatles. Later in the same conversation, u tell him "Come on, come on, come on, tell me the answer", a verse from the same song.

When playing as Malkavian, VV asks you what happens to kindred who break the masquerade. One of the answers you can give is "the comfy chair". A monthy python reference (The Spanish Inquisition sketch).
