I seem to be making a habit of failing the last test. I have got all the crystal things and I can open the door. I can kill all the demons. However I do not seem to have anything that can damage Irenicus as slayer. What do you use. I have my character, who is a mage; Aerie, Jahiera, Imoen, Minsc and Nalia.
Help please
final battle
4 mages? wow.
Are you sure that you removed all his protections? Use breach, remove magic, pierce (or he as slayer has 100% resistance?)
what weapon does Minsk use? Silver Sword, no?
try to summon some beasts.
for example: lvl 7 magical sword is really effective spell.

Don't be scared of my english, it's not my native language.
Spoilers.(I hope)
Thanks for your reply. Is it unusual to have 4 mages? I just sort of felt loyal to the people who came along at the start.
Minsc has lots of swords but not a silver one - I must have missed that. Where is it? I got a blade from the pirate but I gave it to the folk he took it from - should I not have done that ?
I have used pierce and breach and spell thrust and the dispel magic ( crescent and spiral) spells but when I hurt him he regenerates. He goes from injured to uninjured a lot and I can't stop him. I also summoned the shambling mounds ad nauseam as well as undead, monsters and a nymph (though I think the demons got her). What else should I summon, if anything.
Baddy also seems to be double so even if I damage one the other is OK and by that stage I am not. I have been wondering if I have to turn into the slayer myself but I haven't done that so far and I don't fancy it here.
Is there anything I can do with the "limited wish" spell - I have made a mess of using that so far but I do have it.

First of all, Jon Irenicus/The Slayer casts Mislead, so make sure you're not trying to kill a decoy. Use True Sight or True Seeing.
Jon Irenicus/The Slayer also casts Spell Shield, Globe of Invulnerability, Fireshield, and Stoneskin. First remove the Spell Shield with Secret Word. Then you can cast Breach to remove the Fireshield and Stoneskin. To remove the Globe of Invulnerability, you can use Pierce Magic, Ruby Ray of Reversal, or Pierce Shield. Pierce Shield has the added benefit of reducing magic resistance.
Jon Irenicus/The Slayer is very formidible in melee. He has 217 hit points, and he regenerates rapidly. You need to hit him hard and fast. He also has 50% magic resistance (not 100%) and all of his saving throws are 2. Look in your arsenal of weapons and spells for ways to inflict large amounts of damage. Potions of Giant Strength and Potions of Haste will help your melee fighters, and spells like Melf's Minute Meteors, Flame Arrow, and Magic Missile will also help if you have four Mages in your party. Don't forget Lower Resistance, Greater Malison, and Doom.
I can't remember what other protections Jon Irenicus has, but that should get you started. Look at your screen messages to determine how he is protecting himself, and then find a way to overcome those protections.
Good luck!

SPOILER
This enabled me to clobber the loser first go.
Get Jaheira to summon a fire elemental before you open the door. They are unaffected by the knock-back so the elemental can get fired right into Irenicus. This can disrupt his heavy-duty spells and keep him occupied while the rest of you do some demon-culling.
Then, lots of True Sight, potions and spells as above (Lower Resistance!); with umpteen mages it might be a plan to have a Tenser's Transformation or two.
Let us know how you get on!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this. You can win the game with no mages or all mages in a party. Towards the end of SoA, a mage-heavy party packs some real power.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Ehh... but needs a whole lot of special tactics to go through. Trying a mage-themed party now. I'm a druidic sorceror (some mod off forgottenwars.net), with Aerie, Edwin, and Jan. Waiting for Imoen to get onboard and Irenicus (another mod that allows him to join). Thought of getting Sola, but was put off by his homosexual tendencies in my previous playthrough. I also added Improved Battles and Tactics Mod (threw away some of the more idiotic Tactics stuff like improved mindflayers, undead and fire giants).
Finally finished with Maevar after seven retries. Woosh.
