hi guys
im having a question.. ive played bg now for the 5th time.. i have just arrived at the pirate-city.. and helpt ginia to flee.. but.. the guy im supposed to talk to.. is ''busy''.. so i thought i'd sleep for a few hours and then ask again.. but he's still busy haha..
so ending up by sleeping 5 or 6 times outside, near him..
till my very surprise a couple of pirates show up to kick my ass.. no problem for me though.. but i havent experienced it in my earlier games..
anyway.. i go upstairs.. and again i find a group of greenisch looking pirates..
again trying to kick me haha.. there is also a 'drunken pirate' standing there..
and when i speak to him..
he says he feels ''woozy'' and falls face first to the floor
now i was wandering why.. this all happens now..
i dont have anything installed.. no patches or whatever.. just the 'naked' game..
pirates
This is a common question - you just need to install the official patch. You can get it from here
If you've installed ToB, use that patch, otherwise use the SoA patch.
(BTW - If you've only got SoA installed, but do have ToB, then I recommend installing ToB, then the ToB patch.)

glenfar is correct. People who install the original version of Throne of Bhaal on a computer running Windows 2000 (Service Pack 2 or higher) or Windows XP will experience the bug that gives you the message, "NPC appears busy." All you need to do is patch the game.
To the best of my knowledge, the "drunken pirate" has always been inside the inn, and he always passes out when you try to talk to him. There are also a lot of pirates on the island who will attack you. Whenever you sleep outdoors, you might be attacked by random monsters, so maybe that's why you were attacked by pirates when you tried to sleep in the street.

hmm okay.. ive installed the patch.. and can speak to Calahan again..
thnx a lot for your replies..
but still having a minor question about the pirates... there are a few of them running around there, and they attack you.. but the group that im speaking about is a serious group, with 6 or 7 pirates.. and there is a pirate mage to!
i think they speak about wanting you as a slave.. but im not sure..
so im not speaking about the single pirates standing around..
but its not a real serious question.. just beeing curious,, because it never happened before..

The pirates wanting to turn you into a slave is not a random fight, but i think it is only available at night.
On a side note, you can remove that 'appears busy' with 99% success using this method. Stand next to the person and save the game. Load that save game and you should be able to talk to them.

In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.
