Sand people turret problem. (bug?)

Post by molsonman420can »

Here is the problem I'm having. I have allready been in the enclave but I didn't have HK with me so I bailed out quickly and went back to town. No way I had the 4000k to buy Satan in robo-form so I traveled to other planets to plunder there booty. Coming back to tattoine I buy the droid and run out into the desert with my Iraqi disguises on (clothing and staffs all around, except for HK) and those turrets open fire on me and wipe out the whole crew. So I try multiple things including leaving everybody back at the base to have a Pazaak tournament while I went in alone/disguised and those damned turrets won't stop blasting me apart.

I searched the net for this problem and it seems to be a problem others have had but nobody really gets a good answer. I did read one message saying that he thinks once you've been spotted with certain sand p. disguises you needed to trade 'em in for new sand p. disguises. So this is where two weird things happened:

1) I went to sell my existing desert garb at the cantina and only one of the disguises showed up in my sell menu. The other one did not for some reason, yet it shows up in my inventory. So I sold the one and then ran outside and beamed Mission over to my party and threw the sand rags on her and then beamed her back to the mother ship. Problem solved. No more sand people disguises.

2) So I run outside and look for those automatic sand people confrontations but never found any. I then ran over to where those sand people hang out by that path that connects the two outdoor maps. I got pretty close when suddenly one of those guys runs over to me at top speed like he wanted a piece of the champ. Once he got up to me, however, he just stopped and stood there. The reticle/icon thing under his feet was white meaning he wasn't hostile towards me. Weird because I wasn't wearing any disguise. So I try to make small talk about the weather or whatever and suddenly I get the 'ol "Your disguise failed because you are too close..." message. What disguise? So I annhialate the entire herd of them in record time and take their clothing and put it on. Problem solved. Except that the turrets take pot shots at me every time I get near still and entering the sand people village is still impossible.

I don't want to have to stop playing this great game because of a stupid glitch like this... Anybody have any suggestions? I have +30 hours invested in this game. (sob)

Thanx.

The best bet here is to first of all hopefully have a backup of before you first ventured into the second desert area of Dantooine. Also i've noticed that with the x-box version if you have HK-47 sometimes you don't need to have the disguises on; the turrets didn't fire on me (note this seems to change).

If it's the pc version you are playing check for an update or patch, i know a few have been released. Also, if it really won't work, try seeing if there is anyway to 'skip' an area so to speak. Besides the xp and kraayt dragon pearl(s) you can get there isn't much else to be found in the dune sands. Obviously there are a few saber cystals and Bastila's father's holocron but i believe you could just 'add' them to your inventory by using a hex editor or console if it is available.

However, i shall look into this bug more closely and see if i can find anything. I've played this game through about 50 times and still love to play it so i'll have a look and let you know.

Thanx for the reply Kapalina... It turns out I was able to fix the game through dumb luck. It was a weird glitch I guess, and I am playing the Xbox version of the game. I can't remember exactly what I did to fix the problem, but I know I took the new robes off and on and tried myself alone using each robe and neither worked if I recall. Then the next time I went into my inventory and it showed I had THREE suits now. One was by itself and the other two were now 'stacked' in one inventory square. So I believe I then tried wearing one of the two that were stacked and it worked. The turrets stopped firing. Anyways, might help to know incase you hear of anybody else having a similar problem.

Thanx again.

I also had a bug of some kind in that area. I worked through it, but it was a little wierd.

After killing the Gamorean Bounty Hunter with the Assult Droid, I went to the Sand People Base, but didn't see any Sand People or Turrets outside the base. I walk up to the front and *BOOM* auto-death. Luckily, this wasn't my first time through and noticed something strange and saved it before getting too close. I figured that since there were no turrets present I could just walk my party up to the base and start the slaughter (I am DS btw). But I needed to equip all my party with Sand People Robes and pass by the invisible turrets and no insta-death. I think that maybe doing the Bounty Hunter mission messed up the area and made the turrets disappear. Anyone have a better explaination for this or is that supposed to happen?

I had a problem similar to Badseed's (I play the PC version) -- I completed the assassination mission before going to the Sand People enclave. I didn't notice if the turrets were there or not, but when I entered the enclave with HK and Bastila (wearing appropriate disguises) I was attacked immediately rather than getting the "disguise was good enough to fool turrets but not good up close" stuff.

In the same game, I was unable to trigger Bastila's side quest (father's holocron). Don't know if these are related or not, but it is a little strange that these two oddities occurred on the same planet.

I think you have to start Balista's quest on another planet before her mother will appear in the cantina on Tat. I always get Balista's quest on Kashyykk walking down the walkways and get stopped.

I've done it both ways ... usually, I pick up the quest on Tat though ... what will happen is that I get the quest in the docking bay, then run into the Duros complaining about the crazy woman in the cantina when I get into Anchorhead. Even though I think I had talked to Bastila about her family, it is possible that I messed up some how (in the same game, Bastila told me that our "feelings" were an artifact and that I should get on with my life -- the first time that's happened to me and I've played through several times).

For me I just had Juhani or Bastilia in my party and used bursts of speed and ran pass without any problems! Until I got inside and didn't have the droid so just ended up killing all sand People until I found the Cheiftain! Bastilia's side mission was kinda hard because I had already beatten the game a few times and kinda forgot what triggered it! I think you just have to talk to her a certain amount of times on Dantooine! At least until she goes into the whole "The jedi don't believe in executing their prisoners....etc.." thing and once you get on Tatooine that Twi'lek will come up!
Don't let my name fool you....Or you will pay dearly...

Yeah, it has. Repeatedly. Please do a search on a turret or sand to locate it. Lots of replies.
