Post the harshest fights or closest escapes you have ever experienced..
I had one not so long ago where 6 of my characters got locked in a room where 2-5 pit fiends appeared each round. They ended up killing 71 of them
>.<
they were 8-13th level chrs.

71 Pit Fiends.
Hmmm, considering in the game I run a single Pit Fiend nearly wiped out the party of 12th level PCs, I think your GM and I have slightly different styles.
A tough fight story, hey? I can remember one, where I was playing a Human Cleric of Torm and my friend was playing an Elven Enchanter. We had these twin sisters as sworn enemies, and constantly were having major trouble with them. Eventually we tracked them down to their hide-out and confronted them.
Major fight follows. The other members of the party, a Dwarven Fighter, Halfling Ranger and Gnome Thief all end up dead. I was on about 5hp, and the Enchanter was down to 1st level spells. On his next action, he decides to break his Staff of the Magi - just as one of the sisters does the same. The tower collapsed.
Sure, we all died. But it was a most excellent session, and brilliant way to go.
Cheers,
TGHO

tough fight? Well, the other day (the inaugrial fight of my two-headed ogre), our party encounter six metallic oozes. There was four of us (Myself the two-headed Meat shield of an Ogre, a Female Bard, a Ratling Wizard, and a half Gnome/ Half Goat (don't ask ) Paladin. Average party level is 13).
The catch with these oozes, though, is that the DM had them, upon making physical contact with anyone, they shifted into the form of that PC, with all their physical attributes. The fun part, is that two of them off the get go, attacked me first. This resulted in two enemies that had the strength of me, against a party of almost all non-physical combatants.
It toook some doing, our Ratling ended up cowering in fear, riding my shoulders, pounding out the occasional magic missile (as well as licking himself. Again, don't ask). Our Bardess occupied two of them on total defense, hoping to all high hell not to be hit. Our Paladin was in thebest shape, as he had the damage resistence going for him, but really wasn't doing all to much in return. Me, on the other hand, was fighting two of them, and doing an average of 35 damage a round. If I hadn't been around, chances are only the Paladin would've made it out of their alive.

While playing Banewarrens-adventure, our party (Half-orc fighter/barbarian, elf rogue/wizard, dwarven cleric and human monk(me). All 7th level.) bumped into some really angry urban werewolves while exploring dungeon. We were all little injured, but we were still winning the fight until a really nasty tiefling rogue sneak attacked our wizard. He was dying and we had to retreat back and run away from them.
So we ran away while our female half-orc was carrying the wounded wizard to seek shelter because the werewolves and the tiefling were following us. Unfortunately, we were ambushed again by different party.
We entered a round room which seemed safe and empty. Next second a mind flayer appeared in the ceiling and mind blasted. Poor Bupu(half-orc) was stunned and our cleric was attacked by huge spider(Great hairy perhaps?) and angry sphinx. My monk was attacked by a nasty green hag sorcerer and ogre mage.
Next the werewolves charged from the doorway and attacked the giant spider while I was dragging our fallen companions next to the wall. Battle between the werewolves and others was so intensive that they forgot us when our cleric casted stone shape to create a protecting, hollow stone "ball" around us (yes, we were inside stone ). There our cleric healed us with his wand and after the stun effect on Bupu wore off, we had little buff moment.
After our little buff moment we broke the stone ball and re-entered the battle. Two werewolves were dead and that spider was dead along with green hag. Bupu charged at tiefling and our cleric cast poison on the sphinx. I had fly spell cast by our wizard and attacked the floating mind flayer.
In the end of our battle, all four werewolves were dead and tiefling hadescaped, mind flayer and ogre mage teleported away. Bupu had died in the hands of the tiefling but we were able to raise her. All other enemies were dead and we seriously injured. Nice little fight.
P.s sorry, long post.

My lvl 6 fighter with gloves of storing, 4 extra chain and daggers, excluding the one in his shield and the one he uses for normal combat so 6 altogether. hes got quick draw and rapid shot. a claw bracer thats keen, and the longbow he uses. Him, a barb, a rouge/assassin, and a monk/sorcer took out 4 minitaurs. the first showed up, he was 12ft tall, twice the size of my char. i grabed his wrist with a chain and held him while the barb and rouge kept him busy so the monk could pierce the minitaurs shoulder with a +1 quarterstaff and use warp-wood to remove the arm. the second was the short miniatuars older bro. nearly the same statige but without removing the shoulder.we knocked kim uncounsious and let the barb remove his head. the last to head us making jokes about their fallen friends. a 2vs4 fight that we nearly didnt make. the rouge managed to be able to hit one with purple worm posion. which helped alot. man nothings better then watching a minataur trying to pick up his battle axe that he just dropped. the other the monk used warp-wood on his staff after it penatrates the second minataurs leg. needless to say he wasnt standing after that. the minataur grabs the monk and stabs him with his horns. the barb hucks his axe at the minataur and hits the monk instead. by this time the rouge is uncounsious and i am down to 9hp at pegging this guy with a bow somehow missing the monk everytime. the barb comesout of his rage and is down to 3hp and the monk is at 1hp. the barb runs up and punchs the minataur twice, the monk punchs this guy in the chest and the minataur falls down dead.
we walked away with well over 1500gp from hugh pps. we then cut the horns and hoofs off and sell them to a city of kobolds. good time, good times.
we ran to the healer in town the first chance we got. then bought alot of healling pots. i dont see how much could be worse then this.
