Hey hey, Nethack is coooool!
I first discovered Rogue-like games back in the '80s, at high school, when I got my first computer. Fantastic stuff. Much more in-depth than any of the Action RPGs around today.
Certainly worth installing on a work machine for those slow Friday arvos.

If you liked nethack, then you should try ADOM (Advanced Domain Of Mystery, IIRC). Much like nethack, but with ASCII -graphics. But it has deeper story.
I have also played Nethack, and IMO it was okay. The only thing I hated on it was that it was too hard at the beginning, especially if compared to ADOM. But it's still worth of trying.

I've played all the rogue-likes. Including ADOM. My favourite is Zangband, although I am waiting for the new version (which is extremely late).
