Modding: Capabilities & Tools

Post by ~NOBODY~ »

I know this question has been asked a number of times, but my search returned a few posts that were quite outdated, so I thought I'd ask myself. As I see, the only possibilities are retextureing\skinning and adding clans. However, what about dialog, scripting, quests, design... And also what tools can be used for modding the game? I know it's built on the Source engine, so I expect Hammer to be an option, but as I'm not really sure, I'd really like to know what you, people, do.

Tanx in advance!

We can't. We need an SDK or some very good source who will get us started with the scripting. The way it is now, we definetly need a SDK. Without it, we can only re-skin a few bodies, modify some stats, add (read: change a existing clan to a different clan) a Clan and diciplines. That's all i'm afraid.

That's bad... I was expecting something more... Well, just saw someone here talking about a dialogue tool, and it seems to be real... Gotta lok into that sometime.

Ah yes, I forgot about that one. There is a dialogue tool. I'm not sure where it's located though.

Well, as more of a programmer I'd be more glad for a scripting discovery, but since the scripts inside the archives don't seem to be too complicated, I'd be expecting someone to figure it out soon...

Don't worry about it man. Go check out http://www.planetvampire.com , the modding section. They've done a lot of work already there. The most we can do, though, is modify scripts and models-- new areas, modifying areas, etc., are still beyond us.

Good, good. I've visited that site once but couldn't get anywhere - always gave me some errors. The forums seem to work now though... And the sticky seems to be resourceful...

I guess you just need to copy the included vampire folder on top of the one in your game directory.

what?

I'm sorry but I need a bit more than that :) I'm kind of computer dumb. How do I take the file and past or insert it into the game? I tried some KOTOR and they say post mods in the Override file of the game. Does V:MB have something like that?
