Has anyone tried Kult yet? It looks interesting. :)

Looks like a diablo clone to me, but I've only looked at the screenshots.
Btw - this belongs in the RPG forum, so I'm moving it :)

Actually all the critics here on the reef has compared it to Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, which is why i found it interesting. Thanx for the move.

Well - perhaps IWD, but that still looks like a dungeon slash n' hack game to me - but of course - I've not played it. But that is from looking at the site and the screenshots.

It looks interesting, however I would need to play a demo before slapping down AU$100 for it. Got any links to reviews/articles?

Well, there is a demo here.

I just finished playing it yesterday. It is a pretty good game. Compared with some other stuff I've played in the past two months - Sacred Plus (partial replay), Divine Divinity (1st time), and VtM: Redemption (also 1st time), I'd compare as follows:
- Not as good as Divine Divinity, but better than VtM: Redemption or Sacred (I thought the quests in Sacred got tiresome and idiotic).
- Longer than VtM: Redemption but shorter than the others.

It has some nice features - notable attunements and the 'dreamworld', and some choices, but is still basically hack-n-slash in the D2 vein.

Well - seems your experience matches my expectation :D

Although I'll try the demo out in the weekend I think, to form a more educated opinnion other then what I've picked up by looking at their site :)

I look at it this way - I payed $30 for Call of Duty: United Offensive, and had 8 nice hours. I paid $40 for Medal of Honor Pacific Assault and got ~12 hours I wish I could take back :( , and I paid $40 for Kult and got ~30 hours, only the first few of which I had troubles with ... and in general I found Kult to be worth my $40.

My expectation for the game was that it was similar to diablo, which you confirmed in your post. Not that it was a bad game - although I personally don't get any enjoyment from Diablo (and clones).

My wife bought me Diablo for Christmas right when it came out (96), and after playing a bit I went back to FPS and swore off 'RPG' until I got NWN in prep for KotOR ... that was when it came out for the Mac in August of '03. Since then I've played just about everything, but went back and loaded Diablo again ... still don't like it. Haven't tried Diablo II, though, which most of these games are supposedly the offsprings from.

Downloaded the demo - wasn't impressed to be honest. Had a play through most of it, and it did not grab me. The interaction with the environment was pretty poor, and the gameplay was weak. And far to linear.

Didn't at first, but in the end I liked it a fair amount - not one of my favorites, but well worth the $40.

Kult really dissapointed me. It seemed like a nice game in the beginning but after playing it for a couple of hours I got REALLY bored and uninstalled the game :(

I was going to download the demo, but then looked at the system req. Looks like my 500 MHz with 330 Mb Ram and Win XP is too slow to run it :p

Well, the game looks so crap it might actually run pretty fine on your computer.
Well, the game looks so crap it might actually run pretty fine on your computer.
Actually not - although the graphics are very much on par with Divine Divinity (as opposed to more 'modern' graphics like ToEE or Sacred), the requirements are still there. That is actually one of my major complaints - there are many things, like entering areas, choosing items in inventory, etc, that just take too long ... I got killed many a time by looking away during the multi-minute loads.
Kult really dissapointed me. It seemed like a nice game in the beginning but after playing it for a couple of hours I got REALLY bored and uninstalled the game :(
You know I did the same thing ... then I reinstalled it and decided to persevere ... and ended up liking it more than I imagined. This is not a 'great' game, but is pretty good with some unique features. I don't think it has all that much replayability from a RP standpoint, more from a hak-n-slash point, as that is pretty varied.
