Favourite Weapons - Excluding Bozar
I'm just wondering what do the players like to use when playing the game. There's a huge amount of choice and obviously there's powerful weapons or ones you use just to entertain yourself.
PS: Please don't say Bozar.

LE Red Ryder BB gun with Sniper and maxxed Better Criticals.
Solar Scorcher (I find it more often than the Alien Blaster, no idea why.)
YK42B Pulse Rifle (mmmmm, pulse-y.)
M72 Gauss Rifle.
Super Sledgehammer.
Depending on my style of PC for the particular game, I'll usually end up with one or two of the above list.
Cheers,
TGHO

Well - the "best" if you dont' view the range is definately the Pulse rifle. It does most damage, and have very decent damagetype against most armour (except Telsa, but I can't recall seening much of that in the game).
It was my favorite weapon once I got it - with aimed shots to the eyes or similar area you can melt most enemies in one or two hits.
Before that the Turbo Plasma is also pretty nice and I like that as well.
However - early and mid game - my absolute favorites are
.44 Magnum, small and easy to fire and can take down so much because of the 1 less AP used to shoot. Get 10 Agility, Bonus Rate of Fire and have it upgraded with the speedloader, and you can have 3 aimed shots per round with a reload on top. Great for close combat where you need accuracy. I clearned out some areas that gave me difficulty otherwise, by using this weapon.
Also the .223 Autoloader is very good. Long range for a hand gun and very decent damage, and this is my main weapons once I get it untill I get the sniperrifle in which case I alternate between thoese two.
I rarely used burstweapons on my main character, but gave them to Cassidy because I found them to unaccurate. I'm more of a aimed shot, sniper type player myself. So all that could be, I equipped with single shot weapons.

I always end up with the Turbo Plasma Rifle, Fast Shot and Sniper. Five dad supermutants per round. Before that, I use the best gun I have.
Untill now, I always played sniper characters, but now I wanna play a melee character. I'll go for the Super Sledgehammer.

The fists after you got the slayer perk
The bazooka
Hunting rifle with sniper scope
I always keep at least a hunting rifle and a panchor jackhammer in my backpack, but usually I try to kill as many things as I can with the fists. I also like the bb gun and the sledgehammer.

For me I have a tendancy to seek out the HK P90c early due to it's good damage and speed in comparison to other weapons, I'm not too sure how I get it early now but it seems to simply be alignment of fates. It's a good toy gun for many occasions until I get the HK G11 (and the ammo to use it).
I don't really use burst mode much but I really like the ammuntion compacity of these weapons, besides the fact I like the weapons in real life. It's not rare to find me using only the G11 for the entire game though; the only trouble is trying to actually hurt that goddamned Horrigan with it.
~
Next I *LOVE* the Improved Flame Thrower with Mark II fuel loaded. Nothing is more entertaining than roasting a nicely lined up group of Raiders and seeing them dance in pain, as a note the longer they dance the more damage you did. This weapon is unfortunately ineffective against a large portion of the population though so when I can't roast it out comes my G11 and my aimed shots.
~
Melee weapons I like the Improved Cattle prod and the super sledge, where as the super sledge eventually gets grating on the nerves waiting for monsters to stop sliding along the floor, the cattle prod just knocks people entertainingly to the ground with good damage.
"Opff!!"

Other than the Bozar, I'd say the Gauss Pistol, because IIRC with the right perks and traits you could get it down to three (or was it two?) AP's a shot. Perfect to slip in when you can't fire the big gun anymore and need a quick shot.
"It's not whether you get knocked down, it's if you get back up."
@The Z
The Gauss rifle uses the same amount of AP as most of the other small-guns weapons in the game, which is 5 AP as standard (6 for aimed shot)
The Guass pistol on the other hand uses only 4 standard (5 aimed) which means with Bonus Rate of Fire you can get down to 3 for un-aimed shots.... perhaps it is this "gauss" you think of and not the rifle. Although the Gauss Pistol dosen't have all that good damage (only marginal better then the .223 Autoloader)

hmm favorite weapon sounds nice..but i really don't have a favorite weapon
it's rather what unit to kill with what weapon ^^
for small units i usually play fun because they don't do much damage so killing a whole group of bandits with rocks is cool
and for big units it's nice to burst it really doesn't matter what weapon all can be fine
a better question would be most used weapon
wich will be a YK42B Pulse Rifle

can't you just make another topic?
best weapon here and that is just crap because u will say the weapon wich u will use most or does most damage
it's all about how you play your character and what weapons is best for him
for example if say laser pistol is best weapon there is and i got my energy weapon skill at 10% does the character make the weapon better? or does the weapon make the character better?
well in both cases your wrong because it's a mixture of those 2
so let's just skip the thread with best weapon? and make it most used weapon?
besides u will spoil most weapons because beginner players will hunt for those weapons that are said here most likely

small gun:
Pistol type:.44 Revolver--->.233 Pistol--->Gauss Pistol
Rifle tyep:Hunting Rifle--->Sniper Rifle--->Gauss Rifle
Burst type:HK90C--->HKG11E OR Jackhammer(shotgun type)
big gun:Light Support Weapon(use .233 ammo ,like Bozar),Vindicator Minigun(use 4.7MM ammo,but the damage is unbalanced.),flamer(short range)
energy gun lasma--->YK42B
melee:Seldgehammer(break out emery)--->Wakizashi Blade(can harm power armor solider) OR Power Fist(hit head or groin)
last:
Explosive&Dynamite(use best armor and learn toughness feat, set bomb 10s,it is equal 2 turns. You take bomb walk to enemy, and boom... Because you have best armor&hp,you can still live.)

This is *not* a thread about the best weapons, this *is* a thread about one's favourite weapons.
That is what people prefer to use for damage, speed, role playing or otherwise. There is no "wrong" or "right" for this thread just personal preferance.
~
I also like the Gauss Pistol too but I find ammo tends to be too scarce, so I usually use the HK G11 due to one clip equalling 50 aimed shots. It's almost as good as the Guass series weapons but still gives a good challenge.
M72 Gauge Rifle can almost penetrate any armor. Problem is though the gun is very rare in the waste land i found mine at the Enclave Base along with the ammo. I've heard about this Bozar gun where do you get it?
You can steal it from two guards in NCR. They are standing outside the shop in same area where is that slaver-base. But I've heard that if you have installed 1.05 patch, those guards don't have bozar anymore.
