My Jester's Bard Song

Post by Amphibius »

An odd thing happened the last time I tried to use my Jester's bard song -- the enemies weren't confused, they became unconscious!

Let me explain, at lower levels, my Jester's bard song worked the way it was supposed to but now that I'm level 21 (or 22), enemies fall uncounscious whenever I play my song... I think this also happened when I was a few levels lower (I remembered fighting a vampire that just fell unconscious in the middle of a fight but never thought about why it happened). I tried this out a lot of times and it's definitely my Jester's song that causes the effect! Odd! has anyone noticed this before? Does anyone even play with Jesters? Anyway, just thought I'd contribute this bit of trivia to this board.

Your jester is totally.... normal

When a jester reaches high levels, its song renders opponent inconcious

It also slows them down.

Something I remember to be very useful back in the days when I soloed my Jester :)
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

Oh, ok! Guess it's one of those "undocumented features" then! :) Sorry for the gratuitous post!

I still find it odd that a Jester's song would have such an effect... does this mean that his enemies get so bored with his antics that they actually doze off in the middle of his song? :) Not that I'm complaining though... totally better effect than confusion...

Do the saving throw ennemies get change depending on your bard's level, or is it only the effect that changes?

As soon as you reach level 20 your bard song does not confuse the enemy anymore. Very annoying when soloing because they dont kill eachother anymore. And most of the time not all of them are unconcious.

@ astafas : just the effect changes. Maybe in ToB it will change, lowering also the enmies saving throws. I think it would be neccassary since with the high levels all enemies have very low saving throws.
