Mekrath's Quest cloak of etherealness?

Post by Agrawaine »

During the Haer'dalis subquest I know it's possible to do a quest for mekrath but i was wondering is there any real point.Personally i prefer straight killing him because he gives prettygood exp (14000) i think. Also i know that he has some very cool items such as wands etc. What experience do you get for doing the mephit quest again and is it possible to get the best out of both worlds? ie Doing the quest and killing him just after he leaves. Also i still have to find a proper use for the cloak of etherealness. I mean i have a cool mage but i find the cloak useless for every character and i mean every character.

I remember with one of my characters that I walked into his house and found him. I hadn't visited the Five Flagons Inn and iniatiated the find Haer'dalis quest so all I could say to him was I was looking for adventure.

So with that I went and killed the Imp, Earth elemental and got the mirror and brought it back to him, getting something like 18 000 exp (12 000 quest + 6000 elemental killing). When he said that he would reward me he said I could have his slave to which I objected and asked for his hide instead. Killing him gets a staff and his robe to my memory and about 14 000 exp.

Therefore I got about 32 000 exp and all the items available for this quest, not mentioning returning Haer'dallis and the portal gem.

I think my character was a female level 13 Sorceror and Chaotic Neutral in alignment.

Deadalready,

That's interesting. Last time I ran through it, I couldn't find a way to initiate combat after returning him the mirror. Maybe I didn't accept the quest from him in the right way - already agreed to a specific reward or something. I'll have to try different things next time.

Yes most of the other games I've had I didn't get the option of objecting to his reward of a slave but this one time I did for some reason.

I should point out that I didn't ask *anything* about the reward in particular just that I'd do it and come back. Also I'm very specific that you can't have visited the Five Flagons because I know from other games the only options you get are always related to realeasing Haer'dalis.

I remember very well that there was a very strong hint in the dialogue talking to Mekerath that "he'd have something for me when I return".
