Help from Boffins required

Having just purchased TOB I was looking forward to rekindling my beloved BG party.
However after installing TOB and trying to play it;I am presented with the message:-
Bgmain has caused an error in MSVCRT40.DLL
MSVBVM50.DLL
& NIL32.DLL
and promptly closes itself down every time
Unfortunately i also recieved these messages when i tried to uninstall the bloody thing.
PLEASE HELP !!

install the beta patch at [url="http://www.bioware.com/download/ToB_Beta_Patch_26464.exe"]http://www.bioware.com/download/ToB_Beta_Patch_26464.exe[/url] to see if that helps.

I'll try it.
Ive completely uninstalled all 5 cds and then reinstalled them and am still getting the same message
