A new Fable secret.

Post by Frost Drake »

Yep, got told by Sam, the head of communities at the Lionhead boards. He said kill 1020 Guards at Oakvale and something will happen, he also said you should listen carefully, and don't leave the area because the kill count will reset.

Good luck and go! I'll post what happened as soon as I finish... killing... 1020... guards...

Ahh here we go again with the more of this I heard from a friend of friend that you get to fight a dragon or there is a real secret bull. Folks their is no reward in killing tons of guards or dragon. Please quit spreading these fantasies and dreams.

Have to say, I agree: let's keep the "secrets" posts based on fact, not on hearsay. Frost Drake, if your friend is telling you to kill 1020 guards for any reason, he's almost certainly having you on. Casually ask him to offer you proof sometime while you're there in front of the computer and he can't set anything up in advance, and see what he says.

That is a lot of guards, as well as a wasted time.

I know who's lying and who isn't, anyway if you really want the screenshots they are at the Lionhead Boards > Fable > Narrative Tales > Q&A: Secrets. This is posted by Sam, who works for and on behalf of Mr. Molyneux. I know it's a bit worrying and stuff and how people bull about secrets but I won't even try to fool anyone here.

Anyways, I found it, after you kill 1020 Guards at Oakvale without stopping or going into another area, the guards are replaced by White Balverines. They don't carry over the save, so once you get the White Balverines as Guards you only get it for that time unless you want to kill another 1020 guards after you save and reload.

I put emphasis on "good", because I can't stand guards (they're just so painfully Scottish :( )

I can attest to this being true. The best result of doing this cheat is that the balverines come continually, rather than an annoying three every minute or so. So Oakvale becomes effectively another Cliffside Paths. After screwing around for about fifteen minutes, I had my combat multiplier up to 85.

That having been said, it is a huge time expendature. It took me about six and a half hours to do completely.

P.S. Don't hit the leader of the Oakvale fight club if you can help it. He never stops following you, and you can't kill him. Really really annoying.

white balverine mayhem! =D

total madness! yeah it did take me hours, up to the early hours of the morning... but worth it for the mental amount of fines i conjured up during that time...

total fine: 2,046,740 =D

i carried on until 2,233,990 then had to sleep... but still worth it to see the whole village running around like loons because of me AND the balverines! =D

i gained SO much exp from this little endeavor that i maxed out my char completely and STILL had over 200k general exp left lol =O

makes me laugh though, how 1022 murders only take 8 mins to be forgotten... strange...

Sweet :D Finally, something to do (other than punch children and wander around aimlessly)

Yeah, really. Although adorning your wives with gifts is pretty good fun as well. Or beating them and getting divorced. You know, whatever mood you happen to be in.

Lately I've been trying to get through the game as a true neutral character with minimal magic (just physical shield, assassin rush, and the obligatory lightning) and to keep him at thirty years old. That white hair and wrinkled skin just doesn't seem like it would inspire fear in a bold hearted bandit. I'm not sure how to get the gift of life from the Temple of Skorm, but I'll check the proper topic.

See, told you me secret are always true, me owns.

Mmm... they stayed as Guards? Weird, usually they don't carry over saves, maybe you got lucky.

You thought someone said that, well that's me, the guy who founded it.
