stupid guard keeps attacking me

Post by furmy »

ok so here is the problem- whenever i walk into Meldor's shop in balmora i get attacked by the guard. a couple things: 1) i have never committed a crime within the store 2) i get attacked even when i have no bounty on my head 3) Meldor dosnt pay any attention he jus stays normal.

I can kill the guard in the shop in about two hits (lvl 44 dunmer enforcer custom class w/umbra sword) but it gets annoying because he always respawns. SOmeone help me i just want to barter peacefully with my good friend meldor!

Did you check under your stats display to make sure you didn't have a bounty? It's easy to be a little light-fingered and think you weren't caught, only to discover later that word's getting around.

Well if it was just that one guard then it couldn't be bounty, it could be a bug, I had the same sort of problem too a while back, all I did was loaded back to before the bug started.

Would you mind clarifying a bit, Wrath?

You could try casting a calm human spell on him. I've been attacked by guards before, mostly after I pay off my bounty and for some reason or other still had guards in certain places attacking me. Usually, this is all it takes to stop the attacks.

 (that is not offensive... It is just my personal natural reaction.. and it makes my eyes hurt..)

Near Balmora is imperial fort. Inside that building is if i remember correctly Larrius Varro. He needs your help to get rid off some ''bad people'' in Balmora. Those bad people are part of Camonna tong.. There should be thread about this matter.

If you do the Evil People quest and don't make it back to the questgiver at the fort quickly, you'll find guards are after you. This also applies to Morag Tong quests, if you accidentally lose your contracts. ;)

Why not taunt them  it's frustrating when you don't have a very high speechcraft skill, but you don't have a bounty, and when I went to the fort with my new character, he was totally pulverised.

I never taunted, because I have a mod in place that prevents taunting being used on quests. One of a range of effects, like stopping lengthy levitation and invisibility spells.

Oh... If I had Morrowind on computer I would be fine without mods, but I reallllllly want that mod that lets you write in your journal and on paper. :(

ok thanks guys - its probably just a bug because my character RARELY commits crimes O :) and i always have the conscience in the back of my head to get bounty off, and no he didnt have a bounty on his head at the time. its really not surprising that it could be a bug - morrowinds full of em. like the time i killed dagoth ur, the game froze while he was falling down, and my previous save was before i even entered ghostgate... lolz
