Crash and burn

Post by Celacena »

I have a decent AMD Athlon processor (2.8k I think), 1 Gig RAM and a 256Mb video card (nVidea chipset and up to date drivers). I have installed the patch. OS=windows XP home edition.

despite appearing to have a system than can comfortably cope with the game, it crashes regularly, thankfully usually to desktop but it has got stuck in audioloop/freeze requiring a power off - also sometimes on loading a saved game it has said reading compression error, but usually it crashes on a change of location.

anybody have similar location problems?

interestingly enough, I have also been playing Rome Total War also by Activision and that was crashing a lot - particularly when it changed mode to battlefield from global. does Activision have some problem?

It may depend on the programs you have running in the background. Messenger Software and some others can slow games down or even cause a CrashToDesktop.

I am running a P4 2.66 Ghz, 768 MB RAM and a 128 ATI Radeon 9700 Video Card, WinXP SP2, and it works fine....I had just one CDT so far.

Oh and I have Total War too, and that one works fine too....

I have similar problems. Our system specs are comparable, though you have a better video card and a bit more RAM. I've only had the reading comprehension error once, and it looks like one of my saved games had just become corrupted, some how. I deal with the CTD fairly frequently, though. I basically have just come to accept the fact that the game is a system hog. I shut down everything in the background and restart frequently. That seems to at least minimize the problems.
