Travelling With Ease?

Post by dragon wench »

I'm curious, amongst you PC users out there, do you use any sort of mod that makes travel faster in the game?

Well, I tend not to download all kinds of cr@p which allows for faster travel, mainly because I end up forgetting about it later :D The only travel related mods I have are Green Uvirith (which gives tel uvirith a silt strider, among other stuff) and fishing academy, because that way it's pretty difficult to forget either.

Besides, unless you're running all over the island, I find it's more fun to take the time to savor the scenery.

What sorts of travel Mods are available? I use xBox for this game, but I'm curious about the travel thing.

AlienNewborn, first, "crap" isn't considered a vulgarity on GameBanshee. Second, if it were, you'd be violating Buck's forum rules about avoiding the vulgarity filter. Please don't do this. He's very serious about keeping this board open in the US where it's located, and doesn't want complaints to the ISP.

For myself, I have a couple of house mods which come with teleport rings, and a mod that rewards you for making Archmage by providing a room for teleporting to the different Mage Guilds. It has other rewards that I ignore, but I tend to use this moving one sometimes. After a while, going everywhere to perform a variety of quests by foot gets a bit old.

Most travel mods involve some adaptation of teleportation. House mods often have teleport rings, though a few have teleport crystals and stations. There's a fairly recent mod that lets you ride a dragon, and there are others that put caravans in place.

I guess I should answer my own question :D
I use several methods of travel: a ring to return to my house, plus the Vvardenfell Travel Agency rings, since I also have companions. The VTA rings take you and your party to practically any major location in the game. Very handy while travelling with companions if you don't want to plan every trip via siltstrider, boat and mage guild.

I also use the game transports, along with Mark, Recall and Intervention a fair bit.

Though, there are also times when I simply wander and explore en route to a destination.

Abu Manor has two travel-home rings and although I'm a somewhat-purist it's so tedious to walk back to Redoran HQ under Skar after completing another Redoran quest.
Also, I've downloaded the horseranch-mod, what's it called? Not so much for faster travelling, but riding a horse through the Ashlands or Solstheim really appeals to me.

Actually, it's the "Pegas Horse Ranch". I just started a new game though so I haven't seen any horses yet.
Is "Cait's Horses Go Wild" any good?

I should mention, too, that Emma's Laura Craft companion mod comes with her own teleport ring. She gives it to you after completing the first three of her quests. The ring has roughly a dozen locations you can teleport to, and she'll join you upon arrival.

I have the "Pegas Horse Ranch" as well, it is lots of fun, especially when you experiment with breeding. Riding is great too!
The horses used with Pegas, I believe, are modelled on those Cait made for her "Horses Go Wild," mod. It adds horses (and donkeys, depending on the version you have) all over Vvardenfell, which is a really nice aesthetic touch. With the latter mod, however, you can't actually ride the horses, just look at them.

I have mods like Multi-Mark and Ice's Hideaway (With the Room of Beyond) installed, and I use them for tedious journeys. However, if I'm just going from Balmora to Ald'Ruhn, I'll simply take the Silt Strider. ;)

Guys, if you aren't going to comment on how you travel in Morrowind, please don't post your questions in this thread. Start a new thread with whatever question you may have. I've removed some spam. Thanks.

By the way, for those looking for a new sailing mod, check out this thread. The Ultimate Sailing Galleon is still in beta, but it sounds really interesting.

Hmm.. Intriguing. Though it sounds to be distinctly geared to the male sailor :p

I don't have any travel mods currently installed, as (so far) i've found everything pretty easy to get to. However I must admit that Zar quite likes just wandering around. This lets her do four things - see the scenery, find and mark on the map all those interesting sites, gather herbs and flowers and train weapons and spells on all those monsters out there.

Apart from the few "help me kind person, I am a pilgrim trying to get to X" quests, I haven't run across anything which required me to get from A to B within a certain time period. Is there any real reason for installing travel mods? Apart from helping you old hands, who have seen it all before, to avoid repetition? :)

Cheers,
TGHO

Yes, this just appeared over the last couple of days, and I immediately thought of what you asked. Figured you check here, though.
