As a related question, can you actually learn anything in the conversation you have with him? Rather, is there any actual point to it except for seeing this mysterious vampire?
I don't believe you can, actually. He's got that NPC invulnerability thing going at this point. So, while he'll do actual harm to you, he doesn't actually take any real damage. I'm pretty sure, anyway. I've only tested it once, and that was long ago, by accident.
