I tried actually making the potion last night. I only got 3 of the effects though.. My alc. skill is in the mid 90's too, and I have half of the Grandmaster Set. I'll think up some other brews today.

I recently tried to create a potion with 4 effects and only 3 effects resulted... I have a grandmaster's alchemy set, my intelligence is at 95 and my alchemy skill is at around 65. Maybe you need higher stats to get all four effects??

Does anyone now what Skooma Pipe's are good for? I noticed you can use them with Alchemy.

I believe they can be used instead of one of the standard alchemy items, either an alembic or a retort, I can't quite recall which. From what I read, I gather skooma pipes are pretty low level though. Too bad.. that has some great role-playing potential... especially if it were possible to actually make skooma.. :p

I've been thinking about an NPC in one of the towns we're due to do soon telling the player that he/she has the only secret master's alchemy set in Vvardenfell, and saying that it should only ever belong to one who is worthy etc, and setting the player a set of riddles about the cominations of certain ingrediants, the first wrong answer voids the whole deal, and you can't try again, say maybe five recipies, or questions about alchemy, and if you pass, you can buy the secret masters set from him/her for twice the price each item is worth at Grandmasters level.

This means that the player would have to genuinly want the set, as well as being prepared to shell out big bucks for the best alchemy equipment in the game. I'm hoping it wouldn't be overpowered considering how painstaking it is to get it, and I've always been dissapointed the secret masters set isn't in the game.

Thoughts?

Well... the secret set is hugely overpowered. A couple of pieces came with a mod I'm using and I put them into storage. But I think your idea is a good one. My only suggestion would be too make it even more difficult... perhaps by setting it up so that the character has to have a minimum of 65 in both intelligence and alchemy to even be able to buy it :D I don't know how possible this would be technically, but since you need to achieve particular scores to advance in the factions it may be doable.

Or does including stat prequisites make it just too annoying a quest? ;)

Its not hard, the dialogue option will say "Sorry, you aren't skilled enough to be worthy of using the secret master's equipment" unless alchemy is at, say 80, and intelligence 85, those were going to be my set limits, but yours might be more appropriate. If its that overpowerd, I might consider spreading the four bits around NPC's in different towns as well.

I think spreading the four bits around.. and making making it so that the various NPCs are hard to find (sort of like the secret master trainers) would be an awesome idea, plus in addition to the riddles it would create a sort of quest/treasure hunt. Maybe it would even be possible to insert clues as to their location within the "latest rumours" or "little secret" parts of the enhanced dialogue pertaining to numerous NPCs scattered around Morrowind..???

For example: NPC "X" in say Ald'ruhn might state something like, "I hear "X" in the West Gash region is known as a powerful healer.....

I've wondered if maybe using the skooma pipe instead of the alembic or retort or whatever would make potions using moon sugar any better. I haven't tried it yet; I keep leaving moon sugar on the floors of pawn shops and general merchandisers all over Morrowind. Probably not, but you'd think there's some in-game function for them (they are rated real low compared to whatever it is they replace; about the same difference between "Bent Probe" and "Apprentice Probe").

I know we kinda forgot about this subject, but I think I may of figured it out. You cant have more than one fortify effect spell within a potion, the effect list just totally ignores it. Notice though, you take one ingredient off and the fortify effect spell changes. Example:

Ash Yam, Bloat, and Scrib Jelly, should (in theory) make a potion that has 1.) Fortify Intelligence and 2.) Fortify Willpower. But you mix the three together and will only get Fortify Intelligence, HOWEVER! You can subtract the Ash Yam, to just have the Willpower effect, and once you subtract it, boom, the Willpower takes place over Intelligence. So, I have concluded that you may only have one Fortify Effect per potion. Bummer.

I'd noticed that too, but thought it was just something wrong with how one of the reagents was coded. I know you can have multiple "restores" and "drains" in a potion. Wonder why "fortify" got singled out?

I don't use fortify potions much, except fortifying intelligence before making potions. I started using some fortify health potions in tough fights the last couple days, and it seemed like you need to follow up with a restore health. When the fortify effect wears off you can be real close to death without realizing it.

Thought it might be time to bump one of the more useful threads we've had in the forum. I'll be adding a few contributions later. In the meantime, see if you can come up with some potions of multiple positive effects, and post 'em, here.

These recipies were created under the use of Sri's Alchemy mod. I'm not sure that mixing some of the ingredients, even if they are from the original three games, will still have the same effects.

Quick Flee
  • Hound Meat
  • Hackle-Lo Leaves
  • Nirthfly Stalks (Tribunal)
  • Wolf Pelt (Bloodmoon)

Fortifies speed and restores fatigue. Good for hauling butt. ;)

Firefly
  • Comberry
  • Fire Petals
  • Fire Salts

A very coordinated potion that provides not only a Fire Shield but also Resistance from Fire.

i got it!

i figured out how to duplicate items and get rich while doing it! first you have to have your mercantile skill up to at least 30.then go to the white haven in balmora and buy about 2 or 3 diamonds and buy them for about 50-100 gold less then sall her them back for 50-100 gold more and keep doing that and she will get more and more diamonds every time you sell them back to her......then after you take all of her money go sleep for 24 hours and do it again then you can kill her and take all the diamonds she has and sell them when ever you want(and you can do it with anything else a shopkeeper has only they have to have at least 2 of them to work) :D
