SPOILERS........
You face Malak on the star forge whitch has been creating all the sith fleets. When you kill him if your darkside Bastilla use Battle meditation against the republic and you see Vandar (Yoda dude) die and then some poo about Basty and you in Korriban then it shows your endless fleet. If your lightside then you blow up the Star forge and get medals. No you cant continue play after you kill Malak.
Star wars Kotor 2 semi spoiler
It was Taris that got blown up near the start of the game and Dantoone near the end, you get to go to Dantooine in Kotor 2.

Add l Skinflute l (Lower case L's) if you think you can beat me 1v1 snipers in Halo 2.
There is a lot of debate about whether the DS ending or the LS one is more epic.
LS - Malak shows signs of regret being a Dark Lord and blames Revan for leading him down the DS. With Bastila's Battle Meditation, the Republic gets a shot at the stabilizers of the StarForge. The sith forces are in disarray. Bastila rejoins the crew of the Ebon Hawk and you all barely escapes the explosion.
In a ceremony on the Unknown world, you and your entire party, even the darn droid and Canderous gets a medal from the republic. You are also confered the level of Jedi Knight (Jolee must be so mad to see the Council again). You are reminded that the world will have its troubles and you will be called once again when that occurs.
DS-Bastila tricks the Republic and the ever-silly Jedi Council into attacking more. They fall into her trap and are destroyed. Malak is killed... of course he is. You produce more hardware using the StarForge. Bastila and you appear in the top level of the temple on the unknown planet, overseeing your masses of troops. You send an endless stream of Sith capital ships into the unsuspecting universe.
I dun like the DS story... so crap.. in my opinion. Dun shoot me for saying that. It's just my opinion. I like the LS one.. but it's kinda convenient in a way. But I think it has the same level of epicness (if there is such a word) as Star Wars Episode 6.

In the end, everything will be alright. If it is not alright, it is not the end.

Yeah I'm with you on that one, I much prefer the ending for LS but then again I cringe doing some of the bad stuff so prefer LS. The LS ending is a lot more like the endings of episodes IV & VI so feels more like the films, epic is a great word to use.
However just the thought of sending an invincible fleet out to smash your enemies and take control does give me a perverse joy......now where are those damn Gungans hee hee

(SPOILER) The LS ending is so epic... I keep replaying the scene over an' over in my head, you know where Master Vandar says 'For that is the destiny of the Jedi' and you grin and look up and the classic music kicks in! Then again, I haven't finished my DS game yet...
(SPOILER) When I met Bastila, she refused to rejoin the light and so I had to kill her.Bastila rejoins the crew of the Ebon Hawk and you all barely escapes the explosion.

I just finished the game going totally light the whole way. It was a good game, especially with the sweet star forge robes at the end... But I thought the ending was gay. Malak was a sinch, all you had to do was kill off all of the jedi captives, which was easy because they died after being hit with one throw lightsaber, and the little ceremony at the end was dumb. But canderous looked exactly like a mandalorian, and it was fun to see him getting a metal from the yoda dude. Overall, I thought it was a good game, and I cant wait for the second to come out. They just need to improve the end. I might do it darkside, but maybe not because the only thing new would be the very end of the game, and getting to see what your guy looked like when he was a darkside master, as well as the revan robes.
I hope you not find being dark a pain in the butt to run through the game. You have to consciously select the most unpleasant conversation choices. Otherwise, you may end up getting LS points. Also, you want to remember that you cannot be grey if u want Revan's robes. This means that you have to be dark by the time you see DS Bastila.
Being dark also means that you cannot use Solai crystal, one of the most powerful crystals in the game. It also means you will be going into the starforge alone or with fewer members.
Not that it makes the game more difficult, u will be able to take the entire forge by urself w/o companions.
U can also try wiping out Tatooine's Sand People Enclave while you are at it.

I noticed a mistake in my game.
Chose light side cause I told Bastila I'd rather kill her (totally NOT light side), got into the star forge, fought Bastila.
I decided that she should die cause I didn't like her, and then I went and killed Malak. UNFORTUNATELY I wasn't able to go dark side at all, I was forced to say something good about the light side, which I hate.
Anyway that's not the problem. When it ended and I was getting, oh boy, a medal for all the crap I went through Bastila was behind me! Imagine! The lightsaber wound must have just grazed her.
Also on another note I like being dark side, for the most part, a lot of the times it seems like when you want to be bad you have to sit the fight out. But making Zaalbar kill Mission is priceless!
