How do you get them to give you their quests? Do you need to hire them?
For instance I'm trying to get Tomi to give me his but the conversation doesn't include options for that.

When you talk to your henchmen and talk to them, just keep talking and they will slowly give you a story, when they say something along the lines of "i will speak of this later" wait untill you level up and they will share more, and so forth.
i havent played with tomi yet so i dont know his quest, but all henchmen are the same, as far as i know.

[You can have all the henchmen quests done simply speaking to them with no need to bring them all along. Two factos are fundamental: 1) you have a right level in order to complete their quest 2) you never throwaway their objects. And, of course, every time you hire one you automatically dismiss another one.
