Nosferatu Warrens 2 HELP

Post by 67Sherri »

I am a Tremere female, and can't seem to jump off the catwalk into the water in time to swim to the next level.
I keep landing on the grating, or left standing on the catwalk railing.

If I try to use the noclip cheat, the game freezes

IS THERE NO OTHER WAY?

I feel this section is entirely too tightly focused for the average player

Can I jump somehow to the warrens 3?

I've played a Tremere female through this part and she could jump the railing although it sometimes took a few tries. I try to angle about 45 degrees at the railing so that I don't land on the grating, although I have made it through but barely a couple of times after landing on the grating. Good Luck

Can be done

It is all in the timing and avoiding the grating - I have successfully completed this part with 4 clans and found that flicking the switch and jumping at an angle worked best - any delay and there is not time. I am not sure if celerity or blood buff make much difference - the key seems to be to get into the water ASAP after throwing the switch.

My Ventrue babe did it yesterday without buff or celerity - switch, turn, run, jump, swim. first time I worked it out, it took about 3 goes and I ALWAYS save first.

Good luck!

Hey Computer

The computer offers an alternative way of shutting off the electrical fields if the lock-picking of the character is not high enough.

BTW - it is just possible to leap to safety rather than plunging into the electrified water: you shoot the head-hunters so they will not trouble you and take a running jump towards the electrical cupboard - some times you will land on the gantry, not in the water.

I'm stuck in this room right now, too.

And I was so proud of myself. I carefully picked off the grabby creatures with my .38 before taking more than a couple of steps. I studied the timing of the electrical effects for awhile, then tried to take the walkway towards the door. I fell, of course. Despite the clumsy hand interface, I built a precarious stack of wooden skids and rusting barrels to clamber back up on the walkway. I picked the lock on the door to the electrical room to shut off the power. I played with the computer console for a bit, then went for a swim while the resevoirs were "safe". I saw that I needed the water level higher, then discovered the problem with the water current.

In summary, I figured it all out on my own.

But I can't beat the timing on the damn pumps. After much frustration, I went looking for help here and found this thread. And it's not telling me anything new. When I try to jump over the railing, I always seem to briefly pause on top of the railing and need to jump again to clear it. And when I try to jump at a diagonal angle, I keep bumping into a terribly inconvenient vertial beam, slowing me down by critical seconds.

Apparently I just need to keep trying harder. But this is so frustrating. I have spent the last 90 minutes listening to my computer speakers make flushing sounds. That's not my idea of fun. My left hand is cramping slightly from button mashing and that's not so fun either. Is there any chance of the next patch to make this infernal timing a little more forgiving? We are playing this game to enjoy playing characters with superhuman abilities... we should not need our own superhuman reflexes just to play. The intellectual challenge of this room was good enough, there was no need to make it so difficult with the timing.

Well, I'll go back to my struggles tomorrow. So far, I have gotten hung up right at the corner of that T-intersection with the underwater fan/pump thingy. And as near as I can tell, Blood Buff has no effect on running speed, jumping distance or swimming speed. So I will just try and try and try and try until I get it right or get bored with this game that I have otherwise enjoyed so much.

The first time I played the game, it was un-patched at v1.0 and the timing didn't matter a whit because my character (male Tremere) could swim against the current. It just took three seconds short of forever to get anywhere, but nonetheless he was able to move forward against the full force of the current.

For a fix, they could simply reduce the flow's force. Then failing the timing would simply make the passage slower instead of outright impossible.

No quick fix for this

There seems to be no special fix for this point in the game.

You just have to keep at it until the timing is PERFECT
It's a shame that the timing is so demanding...I almost quit the game because of this point.
I tried jumping at an angle/never helped
I tried jumping off the end / no good

I finally just jumped off at the switch point and ran to the water..
After several hours/days of retrying different schemes, I finaly got the timing right by running into the water.

The only saving grace in this scene is that I "practiced" different ways to get to the water after my first failing instead of reloading the game each time.
Once I got a plan I thought would work, I would then reload and try it.

It took about 8 hours of trying total over 3 days to get it "right"
This game should NOT have such an unforgiving point. I almost gave up. I may not play this game again as another character because of this point in the game.

I had the same problems, but I finally decided to use the "noclip"-cheat (after having failed for about 2 hours). So that's a good thing, you can overcome the problem in an easy way. I think KoTOR on the PC and this terrible mini-game with the turret is more sucking as you can't cheat (and I'm no cheater, I'm only not so fond of quick mouse movements, arcade games etc.).

Timing Timing Timing

SPOILER
As has been stated already, this quest deals with timing.... PERFECT timing. You must get over the railing, in the water, and swim. If you get hung on the rail or grate you are hosed and should start over. If you get to the fan thingie and your character slows down keep going you can possibly make it. You know your done when you start going backwards. I have played through the game as every clan and made it. Some times it takes a few tries, but eventually you make it. On another note: kill the hand puppets from the door when you first come in, walk right and turn left, get on the rail or the small ledge of the side of the catwalk, run and jump, you can miss falling in the water and taking any damage from the electrified water.END SPOILER

Blood buff

Yes this is bit is hell... I think using blood buff once you are swimming does help as strength is increased to +5... however I have done this twice now ( it always takes about 5 attempts).. the trick is do not have any weapon unholstered... after the switch is flicked and you drop down the hole make sure you run at an angle so you are facing the right way once in the water ( be quick with the swim down button too)... Once swimming activate blood buff... it worked for me...

trying times

took 3 goes tonight - buff did help the swimming a teensy bit - but it is the timing of getting into the water after flicking the switch.

It really is just a bit too tough IMO - until I came on here, i didn't think it was possible. it was my reason for coming on here!

keep your spirits up.

dangerous territory

stock up with ammo from the crate near the ladder, then find the oil-drums by the drop. don't fall in.
drop the cans into the pit, or anywhere else and you'll see a very thin ledge running from that corner around near the outfall.
go round and where the fluid comes down there is a grating that can be broken and used to go through into a duct.
transition to next area.

the warrens are awful and confusing. you can end up having to kill loads of those evil centaur things and lots of head-runners, simply because you end up going everywhere trying to find the exit and the swipe card to get out.
saving is a very good idea.

Other ways to get to the grating.
Just jump over to the place.
For strong types you can put the one of the I-beams almost halfway across the chasm, then place the other at the ground end to keep it down then run and jump over.
Go up the raised platform and jump over.

When brute strength won't do **SPOILER**

Female Tremere is my favorite PC (Don't you just love Magic?). Getting through the pump facility is never easy, but to optimise your chances: 1) You have the option of using the computer or the switch. Use the switch. 2) Equip Blood Buff before you even start. 3) Hit the switch and drain the reservoirs. Wait for the lights. 4) Take a deep breath. 5) Hit the switch, turn, jump just to the left of the post, run for the deep water, and start swimming. 6) When you get to the tunnel, hit Blood Buff. 7) That will give you the little extra *oomph* you need to make it around the corner. Don't dilly-dally - it's going to be a near thing.
