Anyone else met Samantha?

Post by Fatale »

When i first got to Hollywood, there's this lady at the restaurant who stops me as I passed and tries convincing me i'm someone i possibly was before i got vamped (i think?), then runs off to the phones and doesnt show up again. Is she another Malkavian hallucination or part of some hidden quest thingie? Anyone else met her?

Everybody gets her (I got her as a Tremere male and a Torrie female). If you allow her to make the phonecall, you will get a masquerade violation, but you can easily persuade or intimidate her into leaving you alone. Perhaps the Nosferatu don't get the encounter. I doubt she could recognise you....

Yes, she's quite bothersome isn't she? Causing a Masquerade Violation and all if u dont act properly, she doesn't have a quest but u can gain a Masquerade Redemption point by killing her.

You could always scare(intimidate)/persuade her away or say something strange with ur Malk to make her leave u alone. :)

Btw, she always appears there regardless of what clan ure in.

If your didn't put your focus on sozial skills, there is apperently another option to get away without a violation.
You could drink a bit of her blood, which leaves her stunned. Somebody suggested that this will prevent her from making the call.
I don't know if this really works, though.

I drank some of her blood, that stopped her from making the call. That short term amnesia kine get when you take a sip comes in handy there.

Samantha showed up while I was trying to find a "working girl" for the dude in the graveyard. At first, I was thinking, wow, no wonder I'm getting so powerful so quickly, I'm an elder vampire with amnesia. But I overheard part of her phonecall and realized that she was a mortal, not another kindred, so I ran down a nearby alley, took a long walk down other alleys on that side of the map and ended up down near the graveyard, talking to another working girl.

I realized that I was a little low on blood and had plenty of cash, so I thought, "I need a drink. I can set my pal up later." After paying the money, just after I hit the "F" button to feed, Samantha pops up and is smiling at me. I tried to hit "F" again before any blood was drawn, so maybe I could just play it off as a kiss on the neck. No deal! I got a Masquerade violation.

After that, I went down and sulked in the sewer for a good long time, then popped a sewer lid open near the cab and went back to Downtown for a while. I haven't seen Samantha since.

Hmmm, I couldn't get her to leave me alone so...

I had to kill her. I am just glad that I saved before I talked to her, because hey, I stupidly let her go call her "friends", and after that, she followed me around like a love sick pup. I tried to talk to her, but no luck, and I tried to outrun her, but she just came running back up behind me. After about five minutes of this silly little thing following me around, I went to a back alley, and killed her. I felt really bad about it, because I'm sure in her mind she was just trying to help her old friend who'd gotten mixed up with the wrong kind of people...after loosing a humanity point, and regaining my masquerade point, I quickly reloaded...the guilt was just too much! ;) I have to say, on my second time round, telling Sam that I was her old turtle that she flushed when she was a kid was so funny, I was laughing like crazy! Made me feel better, and she was none the wiser...good old malkavian dementia.

I love the Malkavian option to use Dementation on her....
The idea that she is talking to her old childhood pet turtle is just toooo hilarious.... :D

role play

if you role play the Samantha situation, you don't even get the problem of her going for the phone.

even without high skills, the dialogue options are there. the key is to appear puzzled by her - make sure that you say that you don't know who she is, ask her if she is trying to scam you and say that everybody else is not you and she goes off slightly bemused but convinced you are simply a double of yourself.

I have NEVER had to intervene by attacking her or using specific skills - just make sure that you play it, very, very cool.

Or use the sewers at all times to go and come from Isaacs (and by extention the theatre).
I kind of like it to know I've got a nice redemption waiting in the hollywood zone just in case I mess up a feeding action (or a frenzy in a non combat zone)

Kill her.

Make sure she does not use the phone located to your left. If she calls up your suposed friends you at that present moment in time would have been breaking the Masquerade due to the fact your/our secret would be leaked to the Kine. Keep the Masquerade a secret at all time and never break it at no cost. Please.
Remember never break the Masquerade at any cost. Uphold the secret and conceal the scent.
