XBox vs PC component differences & XP exploits
Hey all,
One major difference I"ve noticed between what I read RE: Xbox & what I experienced on the PC version. Everyone kept saying the best item to break down for components was an advanced medkit. In the PC version, Medkits don't break down for components, they break down for chemicals. A Repair kit breaks down into components. And even Bao-dur with lvl 27 repair can only break them down into 1 component.
* Questions *
Does anyone know who sells an infinite number of Repair Kits? Have been to Telos, Nar Shadaa & Dantooine and so far nobody does.
Also, the swoop racing exploit and all the experience point exploits seem to be fixed on the PC version. Has anyone discovered any XP exploits on the PC version yet? I've finished 3 of the 6 planets and I"m only lvl 18. I want to be certain that I max out Crush Opposition to lvl 5 before the end of the game.
Thanks!

Are you sure you can't break them down into components (I am also using the PC version) as I can recall seeing them to break down. When you go to Breakdown items, you have to choose the MISC list of items as opposed to ARMOR, and WEAPONS.
If you buy an advanced medkit at 80 credits to get 4 components. you are paying 20 credits per component. I found by not breaking any components and just waiting until 20 repair was attained by Bao Dur and my PC, I can typically break down items at average cost of 12 to 13 credits per component (based on the buying price the merchant will pay you for the item divided by the number of components obtained).
After just finishing up Nar Shaada following Telos, I was able to gather about 8000 components and used 3200 or so for some upgrades.
Dang so no infinite Hsiss exploit in the PC version? Was getting Force Drain to try that out. Bummer.

No way man. Unless my game is buggy, I went to the workbench on Telos with Bao-dur. His stats are 27 Repair, 26 Awareness, 31 Demolitions, & 28 Computer Use. Here's what my breakdown screen looks like, listing MISC

Not a component or XP exploit but I found an interesting glitch with Hanharr. Spoiler below:
When you gather up enough influence to break him, resulting in a +2STR, -2INT, and DSP. I found that you can repeat the exact same conversation tree and get the same rewards. The result is an extremely strong wookie who is dumb as a stone. Since I rarely ever used Hanharr, I used the glitch to push my character to master the dark side.

I've beaten the XBOX version 3 times without any cheats at all and I have never gotten to lvl 17 Sith Lord (for lvl 5 Crush Opposition). The max I ever got was 13. Maybe the PC version is different and you can get more lvls without cheats, but in my experience, I've gotten that far.

Just scroll down the Misc list some more. It is definitely an option to break down in my game. Remember, grenades and mines can also be broken down into chemicals and they also show up on the workbench list as options to be broken down into components.
Also just found out from the gamefaqs board that the Hsiss exploit is still in the PC game. Now on the way to Korriban first before finishing up Dantooine.

Hmmm, something has got to be going on here. There are no medpacks in that MISC list. BUT! My player character only has a Repair skill of 2. Is his somehow affecting Bao Dur's ability to break down items? That is INSANE. Why would a Sith Lord need a Repair skill of 20? 20??? My Awareness & Charisma are just barely 20.
Can anyone else verify if this is true: Your primary character must have a repair skill of 20 so Bao Dur can break down Medpacks?
Moderators- Apologies on my previous vulgar post. I'll be more careful.
Thanks to everyone for the help!

Yes, I remember reading that same info. However, the author does say that some people didn't encounter that problem. I'm not sure what to think. Repair is a Class Skill for Consulars. That right there is very strange, but would make sense if all of your characters REQUIRE your skill to be high. In my opinion that is DUMB. What is the point of having other characters then? I clearly don't need them to fight. I can open most doors and such with a Security skill of 2. If they can't build items for me then they are essentially useless. Yes, I understand Handmaiden, Krelia etc. can give you certain powers, blah blah. But I mean aside from built in storyline compoents the characters might as well all stay on the ship while I take care of business.
I read an FAQ on gamefaqs where the writer claims that the PC's repair and treat injury skills are used when breaking down items, not the person who's using the workbench/lab station. I'll need to confirm this, though.
confirmed...however, when the pc is not in the party, like at a certain yacht, your current active character repair and treat injury skills are used.

Well, never one to do things the easy way.. I DID fix my issue...
I can easily break down Repair Kits for 1 component. SO, semi-spoiler-ish info below:
I found a droid, the one across from the Cantina on Oderon. He sells infinite repair kits. If you Persuade him, you can haggle him down to 25 credits each. I bought over 1,000 of those. I can break them down for 1 component each. Those plus the components I already have will give me enough to build all 3 top level Lightsaber upgrades. Whew! Check it out, I have a TON of components!!!

Thanks to everyone for the help! If anyone discovers any XP exploits I'd be happy to hear them. THANKS!

saw the Hsiss exploit. That's too funny. Killed so many @ once that I was slowing down my PC. I didn't save the game though, exploit or not it's cheating. I just about finished the game and WITHOUT using the exploit it's still wicked easy. I"m playing on normal but I should put it on Difficult. Thanks all for the help! Considering going throug again as a LS Guardian. We'll see.
