Is it just me or are all the reward sabers violet? (and another color question)
I understand that there's item randomization going on so that's why I'm confused as to why all the sabers I receive as rewards are violet 100% of the time. I've saved right before I get one and at random I'll get a double, single or short but they're always violet.
Also, are the bronze and orange crystals supposed to look different? I've got a Radeon 9600 (I think) and the two colors look the same to me.

Yeah, some luck. Time for me to go to Vegas and put all my money on purple. I figured the bronze and orange were the same because I have an ATI card and the KotOR developers seem to hate ATI cards. Dantooine for instance, in both 1 and 2.
In this game my first color was (not surprisingly) violet because that was the only color crystal I had at the time. But this is my third pass through the game and every single saber I get is violet. I remember my first pass through my first saber was yellow.

spoilers?
That's funny. I seem to always get yellow colored sabres. And I hate yellow. I spend a lot of time and energy trying to get different color crystals, but I always end up having to use yellow early on.
There is a very slight difference between bronze and orange but it's almost imperceptable. And the difference between green and veridian is only slightly more perceptable.
Has anyone noticed that cyan colored sabres don't like to stay off? I can turn it off but every time I go through a load screen it's back on. I kind of like the cyan, but it's a little annoying to have it always turning itself on. I mean what if I was holding a cup of coffee and a newspaper and trying to unlock the door at the same time and my lightsabre suddenly turned itself on? We're talkin' prosthesis here.

I seem to recall that the Mantle of the Force crystal from KOTOR had this same issue. IIRC, the problem was corrected with one of the patches. Since the two crystals are the same colour, it seems to me that someone at Obsidian fell asleep at the wheel when putting together the sabres. (big surprise)

I think I found the solution to this. Back on the Ebon Hawk if you talk to Atton he will ask about your 'Jedi Weapon' how you describe your blade I think has an influence on what you get back.
For instance, when I did mine I knew what I wanted my Sabre colour to be and you got it straight out, I wanted a nice Dual Bladed Purple since the game doesn't permit multi colouring!
If you answer Atton with: with the type of sabre and colour then you will get that.. my instance was the 1st sabre gift I had was purple but my first double blade was yellow. So practically once I swapped crystals around Viola!
so if you answer Atton with another colour then you probs see you get that colour as a gift!

I'll try that on my next pass through the game. If your theory is true then maybe I'm getting violet all the time because each other times I played, I picked an "exotic" colors (veridian, orange, silver). Seems like the programmers wanted those colors to be rare, so maybe they reward colors defaulted to violet.

SPOILERS - Don't read unless you want SPOILING
The only effect of telling Atton what colour you sabre was is that Atris has that colour saber when you meet her
You cannot get it back from her and it has no bearing on what colour sabers you find
I said Viridian and I keep getting violet sabers - except the one double-bladed red one and the Frodo Gonad one or what ever it's called
BUT
There's a nice mandalorian chick on Dantooine who sells all sorts of saber crystals, including colours - she's helped me create a multicolour swapshop of sabers
END OF MY SPOILERS

Update for anyone who cares (which, most likely, is just me).
I tested the theory that what you tell Atton in the beginning will affect the color of reward sabers. Turns out there's no corelation. I thought there might be because I told him that my saber was green and my first reward saber turned out to be green. Actually, after a couple reloads, the saber switched back and forth from green to yellow but green did come up about 75% of the time.
However, every saber after that has switch back and forth from silver to cyan, with cyan coming up 75% of the time.
Strange...
