What other races would you like to play?

Post by Erenor »

Pretty much every RPG I've ever played has had the same basic races as playable characters. Humans/Half-Elves/Elves/Dwarves/Halflings/Gnomes have been available for almost every game I've ever played. Black Isle took it a step up from Baldur's Gate to BGII with the Half-Orc. The step was even bigger from Icewind Dale to IDII with the inclusion of subraces (new varieties from every race to choose from with wonderful new strengths and weaknesses!). Where should RPGs go from there? Personally, I'd love to play a Forgotten Realms based game like BG/BGII as maybe a full Orc, or maybe something completely different like a Siren or a Giant of some kind. What does everybody else think would be a cool race to play?

Hmm, tough one. Although I would have to say an ogre mage like that one with the dog rufie.

I would like a half-goblin rouge or fighter. Short, green, and angry is my style. :D

Near to rage, near to anger, cold the traitorous dopploganger.
Roll-playing perspective, I'd say a dopploganger, How do you like Boo's eggs now, Boo-Ya.
Troll, would be poetic justice. Quickling's. Ogillion's. Water genasi, or any genasi for that matter would be a great start. Nymphs. Dryads. Lykinthrops. kuo-toain. Lizzardmen. Kobold anyone. Captain crunch can't keep up with SAHUAGIN. Minotaurs. Various undead, (vamps-wraiths, skelatons, zombo's, ect..) Silly me, Salamanders. Yan-ti. Ok the freak = Mind flayers and shadow kind. And of course, LOCATHAH, don't leave home with out it.

Hey, maybe start a thread for creatures that should of be added to the game?

This is a nice idea for a thread! I'd be interested in playing a Drow; they play an important role in BG2 and we know quite a bit about their culture, so it would be nice to really roleplay one.

You can make your character an elf and then change the hair/skin color to white/black to make it a Drow Elf. Since BG doesn't really respond differently to your PC other than with gender/alignment, you can try it. Icewind Dale II is awesome for playing Drow. I'm currently soloing with a Drow rogue and he is absolutely amazing. :)
