Stealth????
Stealth????
Is stealth really woth using in the game? Do short blades realy do much damage? Can bows ever be very effective? And can light armor ever look cool and provide good defense? I'm thinking about making a stealth character, but I don't know if it's worth my time. Any suggestions?
Is stealth really woth using in the game?
Hard to say, what do you mean by worth? If you mean is it fun, I say yes. If you mean is it possible to make a lot of money with it, than I would have to say yes. If you mean could I finish the main quest with stealth, than I would have to say no, stealth is impossible to use to finish the main quest, so you must use brutal force.
Do short blades realy do much damage?
I can't exactly remember, but I think they do more damage than long blades, although I am not sure. In real life short swords are supposed to be more powerful than long blades. The type of weapon that does the most damage in Morrowind is blunt weapons.
Can bows ever be very effective?
I have been trying bows out and I have found that they don't hit much at a low level, they do pack a fair puch though, start off with a high marksman skill and I am sure you will be very effective with the bow
And can light armor ever look cool and provide good defense?
Glass definitely looks cool
and as far as I am aware light armour does reduce damage quite a lot, in my opinion it is the best as it wieghs a lot less than other types of armours and offers a reasonable amount of defense.
I'm thinking about making a stealth character, but I don't know if it's worth my time. Any suggestions?
I would say it is worth your time as it is a fun type to play, it may not be possible to finish the main quest but the whole point of the game is to have fun, am I right?

I almost always play stealth-based characters, and it is a lot of fun, especially if you select Marksman as a skill. It is extremely satisfying to sneak in towards an enemy and hit them with an arrow or two
Short swords do less damage than long swords, but they are faster, which means they can be quite deadly.
And yes, there is a legendary light armor cuirass, spoiler below, highlight:
The cuirass of the Saviour's Hide, high AC and it provides a wopping 60% magic resistance

lol....ur kidding right? no way, in real life a longblade does WAY more damage then a short blade

sneak is worth having, if you are sneaking and hit somebody it does "critical damage" and if you kill them in one hit )which will most likely happen) the gaurds will not get called and you will not get charged with a crime
as a suit sorry but glass armor is as good as it gets

Er.. no, not that I've ever experienced anyway.
EDIT
@ Genetic, highlight below, spoiler:
You have to go to Tel Fyr, at the top of the tower, there is a large closet with a level 100 lock, it is in there. Be sure you bring some form of levitation with you, and if you don't have a high Security skill, you'll want to get your hands on something magical that opens 100 level locks
I don't know that it looks all that cool.. some people like it though. If you have a PC you can download a mod that changes the mesh, to a version called "Domina"

Well, personally, I really like playing Bosmers. In part, because they are wimpy for quite some time without the weaknesses of Altmers (I like to keep the game somewhat challenging if I can). And, yes, they make excellent stealth characters.
You might also want to consider a Khajiit.
You don't need a 100 security to pick a 100 level lock; with my previous character I was unlocking level 100 locks when my security was at around 60 or 65. Though, I was using Master's and Grandmaster's picks (Grandmaster's is the highest).

Are you medieval weapon expert?
But as for ''damage'' in real life that depends on how you swing your sword.. and there isn't much of difference on ''damage'' when comparing short and long blades.. (long and short sword) Mainly in games whole damage is just quite silly. But then game without those uber weapons perhaps wouldn't be so attractive for players. It would be nice to see some realism in RPG's..

There's another reason to use short swords: because they're so fast, you can keep hitting mages with them, constantly disrupting their spellcasting. Also, IIRC short swords are the only weapons you can use to backstab (very satisfying
).
I've played a Bosmer who majored in stealth. The skills I was most happy with were sneak, security, speechcraft, illusion and markmanship. I put light armor and short swords under minor skills. My light armor skill never got very high though, because I managed to stay away from melee fighting a lot. Oozae is right, sometimes you do have to use brute force, but brute force can be applied in a sneaky way as well. My Bosmer killed quite a few strong opponents shooting arrows or throwing darts, hiding, shooting, hiding, etc.
The nice thing about a stealth based character is that you always have to be cautious (duh). You can never just kick in the door and start hitting the opposition over the head. I really enjoyed playing with this character.
Btw, If you want cool(er) looking armor, there's a truckload of mods out there.

In Morrowind short blades do something like 10-20 damage.. but with one certain dagger you can kill anything in one blow.. it takes some time though..(not keening)

Hmmm.. Well I don't have the best memory for details, so you may well be right. I'll be sure to check when I get my mitts on the Cuirass and/or book.
Even if it does negatively effect Willpower though, it is not a big deal IMO. You would, in most cases still have enough Willpower so that it would not seriously hamper your ability to cast spells governed by it, and the 60% magicka resistance would negate the possibility of less Willpower making you more vulnerable to magic attack. Also, there is a nice little CE ring you can find early on that adds 10 points to both Willpower and Intelligence...

i do have a *few* swords, but think about it. being stabed with a 2 foot blade, or being cleaved in half with a 6 foot blade? yes shortswords can hit fast and disrupt spells, but a claymore can usually kill a mage in one to two hits anyways.
EDIT: the ring is found in Samarys Ancestral Tomb, north west of seyda neen

Just walk on coast line towards Hla Oad..
Yes as for that claymore.. but that thing requires strength and space.. what if whole combat is fought in small cave? What if that mage will jump away and evede your blade? It would be more realistic. But hey as we all know or should know.. bad guys will always stay in one place and take that killing blow. Wht they cant move like one meter to left or right i dont know. But it is funny to watch how silly whole cartoon is. But lets back to the topic. So the evil mage has evaded your blade.. and now is searching something on pile of stuff. Your own blade is stuck on ground. Mage will find his spear and will run towards you trying to impale you. What do you do? take the blow? Try run away? Try to get sword out of the ground and defend yourself?
