Fragarach...it is a greatsword, right?
I am talking about the two handed sword the prince gives you through his lackeys few days after you release him from the temple. I feel this question may have been asked in the past, but I had some difficulty finding it. I am sorry.

Fragarach is the sword the prince wields himself, and is a bastard sword.
The sword you get as a gift from his cronies is called Scather and is indeed a greatsword. Beyond that they're pretty much the same. BTW, since they automatically hit (sheesh), you don't need to be proficient with them. You can give them to a rogue, and always get those sneak attacks in there, if you want.

...don't know if this was changed in later patches...-...but scatcher and fragarach should be more or less exactly the same...
...and both are bastard swords (but without BS-proficiency you can only use them as 2-handed weapon) AFAIR - but it's a long time ago that I've played TOEE last time - so I'm not 100% sure anymore!

That is correct, silverdragon.

Hate to be a dink about it, but I don't think that's right. The item descriptions that pop up when you shift-click on both swords say they're bastard swords, and I believe from the original manual they're supposed to be bastard swords, but scather does 2d6 base damage to fragarach's 1d10, and my fighter who has bastard sword proficiency can use fragarach one-handed, but cannot use scather one-handed. Thus, while it says bastard sword, it appears to function like a greatsword.
BTW, I'm only using patch 2 and temple.dll, which doesn't change this, I believe, so I don't think I've done anything to muck up my game. Also, for what it's worth, jagged jim's toee faq from gamefaqs lists scather as a greatsword.

Doesn't really seem like it to me... at least if I really understand what a dink is.
BTW, Lord Plothos, did you read that PM I sent you?

Whew, glad I'm not a dink.
I didn't see your message at first. Sorry about that (it's such a small notice). Anyway, I've replied.
