Calling an animal 'Snookums' is more sickening than bodily torture.
Agreed... The plural form would be Snooka. :p

And still it's a horrible word. Sounds like Stuka. Calling your animal Stuka, on the other hand, would be kinda cool.

I used have 4 cats. 1 ran away. I gave 2 away. I kept the last one for about a month. Then gave that one away too. (stupid brother had alergies) I had 2 parakeets for about 7 years. Then they died. So I have no pets.

I never considered BS a pet. Though he is a dog :D
I have 3 cats, fantastic creatures, much better than dogs. They smell nicer, are more intelligent, don't require daily walks...
Cats might not require daily walks, but I once had a cat who took a walk with me every day for several years.

I lost two cats last year (one of "old age" for lack of a better diagnosis and the other one from feline leukemia), but I have two kittens now. I've been feeding wild birds and squirrels in my yard partly because my cats like to watch them all day--my living room window is like a big screen TV. :)

As I have posted elsewhere around here, I have two cats. A little, female calico (note: almost all calicos and tortoise shells are female), and a male who has black upper parts and a white underbelly, he looks as though he is wearing a tuxedo.

They are a big part of my life. Both are very affectionate, and they each have a distinct personality. The female (Luna) has very fine, fluffy, medium length fur with white, charcoal and creamy orange markings. She is very pretty and acts like she knows it; we often call her "Princess" :D

The male (Pepe) is not the brightest bulb on the tree, but he's extremely playful and has the sweetest disposition of any cat I have ever encountered. He has a fetish for licking plastic bags, and ripping toilet paper to shreds. Then at night he'll jump up onto my side of the bed, bury his head into my hair and wrap his paws around my neck, while purring loudly.

My Pet resume:

1. Tarantula. Excellent conversation piece. :D

2. Iguana. A true vegan, that one. Couldn't stand the sight of meat of any kind. Give her away as a gift to a friend's daughter when I moved to a new place.

3. Savannah Monitor lizard. I named him Jake. He ate mice like candy bars. Died mysteriously one night, cause unknown. :(

4. Half wolf-dog. The most beautiful and intelligent animal I have ever known. When I moved off the farm I was living on in Tennessee, I gave him to an older couple who had plenty of land for him to chase rabbits on, and dig holes in. He's five years old now, but should live for at least another 18 years (wolves are long-lived). He's doing fine, and the guy's wife spoils him rotten. :)

5. The cat I am going to get soon. I love cats. :)

I have a cat, a dog, a mouse, and my brother has a frog. It came from one of those kits where you get a little environment - thing, along with a tadpole and tadpole food, and you get to watch the tadpole grow into a frog.
I wanted to change my sig, but I can't think of anything to change it to :(

@Macleod1701, only if you beat them with the newspaper when they're bad. ;)

@Chanak, I've always wanted myself a half-wolf/half-husky. I cannot tolerate dogs, but I met one and I fell in love with the thing. Beautiful and gentle and so intelligent.

I have a cat, but I live with roommates who happen to be allergic, so my mother has it and I don't. Fat, tempermental thing that eats menthol cigarrettes and green olives like they're going out of style. Used to be a wonderful pet, then it turned 2 and the last 6 years it's been horrid.

I live with three dogs. All of them should be drowned, gently... They never, ever shut up. If the wind makes the grass blow too much they bark. Cars go by, they bark. Neighbor opens his car door, they bark. They whine and bark, and yelp and it's all just to torment me I tell you! I swear, they have brains along the lines of grapes.

I've always loved cats.

@VonDondu, My first one died of feline Leukemia too. Horrible having to watch your pet go that way. My family just didn't have the money to save it, which is even more sad, knowing having more money would mean I'd likely still have my cat to this day. A wonderful Maine Coon/ lynx (or bobcat) hybrid I do believe. The biggest cat I've ever seen, complete with the little tufts of fur on the tips of the ears and the cheeks too.

Brynn, whats with Vicsuns cat?

I don't have any pets apart from Dottie.
1. Tarantula. Excellent conversation piece. :D
This made me think of a cute anecdote involving a Tarantula. My friend was sitting beside a 10-11 year old girl at the metro. In her lap, she had this kind of box with airholes that you get from zoo shops when buying a pet. The box was pink with red hearts on, and you couldn't see what was within.
Opposite to her, a boy perhaps 1-2 years her senior was seated. He immediately took interest in the girl and her box.
"Oh, what do you have there in the box?"
"A spider"
"A spider? You're just kidding?"
"No, I'm not kidding, it's a tarantula."
"Aw, come on know, tell me what it is."
"It's a spider, a big spider."
"Don't be silly. What is it? A rabbit?"
"No, it's a spider, I already told you."
"Ahhh, you don't need to be ashamed. Is it a rabbit? A guinea pig? Please, show me?"

Slightly tired, the girl carefully lifted the lid to expose some long, hairy spider legs. The boy, who had been leaning towards the girl, turned totally white, threw himself backwards in the seat and looked like he was going to puke. He didn't say a word for the rest of the journey.

:p

Let me add that it's a gorgeous one :)
There are no problems with cats, Oozit, they're the best pet I could imagine. Independent, fluffy, huggable :)

I wouldn't stand birds in cage, for example. Making noise all the time, aaargh... And it's such a suffering for them to live their lives in cages...

Sounds like you have a spider phobia. That's easily cured with 1-session exposure therapy :D

I think hairy spiders are cute, especially if they jump, like tarantulas can do. :)
