Impact of Agility?

Post by Raumoheru »

From using the search i found that:
Destruction hurts your enemy,
Restoration heals you,
but for much cheaper and the same spell, Mysticism does both.

So i was thinking (heaven forbid :o )
Fortify Attack says it increases your chance to hit your enemy
Sanctuary says it increases your chances to evade attacks
and Agility says it does both.

so if i have 100 agility and get a magic item, which wud be better?
Fortify Attack 20 points, Sanctuary 20 points
or
Fortify Attribute: Agility 20 points?

It all depends on your character. If he/she has a lot of health and not much strength or attack, then go with fortify attack, because he/she could take the extra punishment and dispose of enemies much quicker. Vice versa for Sanctuary. If he/she has a lot of strength or attack, you need the extra evasion so you won't die. If attack and evasion are equal, go with Agility. Personally, I'd go with Agility anyway, because you get the best of both worlds.

i think you missed my point, sorry if i wasnt clear.

Is having Fortify Agility of 20 points the same as having a Fortify Attack 20 points AND Sanctuary 20 points?

It's a very good question. I would suggest that the only way to resolve this is to experiment, and measure the number of times an attack on or by a PC is successful between these two sides. Otherwise, we're arguing for/against mathematically unknown factors. I'm a "go with the flow" type, but if you want an answer as specific as this, numbers are the only way you'll get something more than personal opinions.

hmmm i have come to a conclusion

i made two CE items
one with 100 points of fortify agility
and another with 100 points of Sanctuary and 100 points of Fortify Attack

My char has 100 strength and agility, 100 longblades and 100 unarmored

with neither item on he got hit every time and hit the guards every time, except when they made a block.

with the 100 points of fortify agility, i still got hit like every time and hit the guards every time

with the sanctuary/fortify attack i hit the guards every time, but was never hit by them, i just stood there while they swung and hit air for about 5 mins

i was a little dissapointed with the results, i was hoping i cud hit 2 birds with one stone like we can with destruction + restoration = mysticism :(
