There are various issues we might have with Morrowind, but it strikes me as I read some of the questions posed here that one thing I really love are the different solutions to any given problem. Take Genetic's question about trying to kill somebody without penalty (the thread is called "Illusion"), there are all kinds of possibilities, and the question is really a matter of selecting the best approach for his particular character and circumstances.
This type of thing happens all the time, and I think it is one of the things that gives the game so much replay value. Unlike many RPGs, there is almost never a standard, by rote, way of dealing with something, which also mirrors RL. Instead, the player has various choices at their disposal in any given situation.
So, since you are all likely wondering what my point is, my question here is: What is it for you personally that makes Morrowind so immersive?

Stand up for the little guy, or beat him down, run from impossibilities(is that a word?), or take them head on, the best thing about it is that the game atmosphere changes on how you play in each different file or whatever so basically its the fact that (for me anyway) the game always changes.
And lo ye must learn of the great war that raged fo a couple of posts and brought the citadel momentaraly to its knees
Lookie!
I tend to appear briefly and disappear very quickly after that, try not to let it bother you.

My answers, in no particular order:
The fact that there are vampire layers, hence you can become "buffy"'s worst nightmare
The NPC in the Caldera mages guild that sells the "Weakness to common disease spell"
The Bloodmoon Expansion
The whole "Build your own stronghold" idea
The fact that you can fly!
Of course, I play on XBox!

The simple fact that this game is so open ended and so flexible. If you wanted, you could simply ignore the main quest, and still have months of fun playing various parts of the game.
Of all the other RPGs I've played recently, none have this sense of freedom. And it rocks.
Cheers,
TGHO
