9 is good enough.

The only benefit high wisdom will be to a kensai/mage will be a higher lore rating. And of course limited wish spell too.
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

If you go with Inquisitor, you can go with the 13 (minumum) wisdom since the inq. doesn't get to cast priest spells (which wisdom is used for).

Since the paladin is a fighting type, your generally going to want strength and dexterity. Constitution no more than 16. Any more and it's wasted on anyone else but a fighter.

However, if you don't allocate high strength and dexterity, there are bracers/gurdles that will increase these stats for you.

Intelligence isn't a primary concern. But don't set it too low or you'll walk around with a neanderthal! :D

You'll either have 17 (min) charisma or 18 (max). It isn't a big deal. I'd go with the 17 and add another point to something more important.

Hope that's beneficial to you. :)

Err, I thought that Paladins and Rangers benefited from 18 Con? I haven't paid enough attention (this is my first time through on BGII) but in BGI Rangers and Paladins got the extra hp from high con.

Nobody needs Wisdom. Feel free to skip on it as much as you like.

Wisdom gets you:
[*]For everyone: Save bonuses vs mind affecting spells.[*]For Mages: More options for Limited Wish. The best reached with Wisdom 12, and the highest with 16 (rememorizing spells).
[*]For Clerics and Druids: Some level 1-4 bonus spells, but you get loads of those anyway. Note that high Wisdom is not needed to gain level 5-7 spells.

I recommend you to go with a cavalier and to get high wisdom&charisma and middle-up str and dex
I went with a cav and got the dex gauntles and some str girdles...
