7. It is one more thing that sucks in the end of KOTOR II.
In times long before Revan / Malak there were more than two Sith at a time. But after the almost-annihilation the last Sith went into hiding and decreed that there will be only 1 master and 1 student.
For further information read the Dark Side sourcebook of the SW-Pen & Paper-RPG.

I don't think Darth Treya is really a sith...Not sure entirly.Master Kavar for instance is a jedi gaurdian a master and a council member.I am pretty sure that Gaurdians and sentinels can have padawans but Consulars I guess would be preferable beacuse thay major in understanding and have the strongest connection to the force and all.I was a sith lord as a dark sider. It is just a prestigue class like Conular for the jedi.Tht should explain all the random sith lords.Kriea was once darth Treya and she was stripped of her powers.Just like revan...Except for the memory wipe and the whole puppet thing. That is all I can think of for now. Will have more on next post..

Actually, it was long after Revan and Malak (at least 1000 years) that Darth Bane, the sole surviving member of the Sith Order in his time, decided that there should be no more than 2 Sith at any one time, and that they should go into hiding until a time when the they could return and complete the revenge they swore upon the Jedi. And I think we all know when that time was - "At last we shall reveal ourselves to the Jedi." It was in these wars that the Jedi thought the Sith completely obliterated by their own thought bomb. It makes much more sense that way, as there was always a Master and Apprentice - Revan had no Master, he just branded himself a Dark Lord of the Sith.
So that is why there are more than one in KotOR II. I'm pretty sure that "Darth" is intended to mean "Dark Lord" as well.
I wouldn't get too hung up on the Jedi consular thing, to me its just a classification, especially for the games purposes. In "reality" its much more broad. For example, both Yoda and Mace Windu (and others I imagine) are more skilled than the vast majority of the order in both combat and in the use of the Force. What class does that make them?
I imagine "Sith" just wasn't thought of initially. Don't forget that all of these stories have arisen because George Lucas wanted to create a 3-part space opera, I imagine it just wasn't a word he had thought to use. I did think it was in the films somewhere, but you may be right.
