Laraian vs Silver

Post by joe05 »

I'm about to do the "Armor of Larian" quest.
My question is: "do I transform my Silver Breastplate into the Armor of Larian" ?
The walkthrough here says: " the Armor of Larian is potentially better"; you might prefer your Silver breasplate. That the new armor in no way resembles the old.
Can someone explain the difference between the two = should I go ahead and do the transformation ?
I haven't charmed my Silver Breastplate yet ... if that makes a difference
Thanks for the help !

A lot of the items you either find or get "customized" in DD have randomized qualities. So when a walkthrough mentions something being "potentially better" in any instance, it means you're dealing with factors that can't be nailed down. I've found high end, one-of-a-kind amulets that had absolutely no special abilities, and common weapons with as many as three high-end specials on them.

Fable - I've noticed that :-)
Is the transformation permanent, or can I go back to a prior "saved game" and just skip the transformation if I didn't like the new Larian Armor.
Thanks for the help.

As long as you haven't received crafted goods from a smith, or moved your mouse over a chest/item, you can save the game. Then get the goods or item, or open the chest; and if you don't like what you receive, go back to the save.

Fable - thanks for the help.
But, since I can't find the cave entrance, I guess we stick with the Silver Breastplate :-)
Just spent over 30+ minutes combing the cliff; but, no luck.
Almost like a pixel hunt :-)
Frustrating turns to aggravating.
I think I can get by "as is". We shall see.

The most important thing for your time in the game is to gather money. In the final area you'll be buying and using gold charms, so cash is important--and having 5-socket items, too.

Fable - thanks.
I've been hording gold/gems.
Have about 11 sockets open ... some gold gems after Dwarven Mines
I have a light Breastplate with 5 sockets, but low armor rating ... I have the Silver Breastplate with 1 socket, but high armor + several resistant modifiers/perks
I'm guessing the Silver is better.
"As Is", I think I'm near 70-90 in all resistances ... around level 36 ... over 100 in STR/AGIL and 80 in CONST
Think it's time to bang the gong :-)
Thanks to everyone for your help !
Nice game ... if it wasn't for the crashes and no D3D(Radeon graphic card), this would have been super
Finding that damn cave would have been nice too :-)
We'll see how the Wastelands go ... should give me a good idea on: "if I'm in trouble come showdown time" :-)

It's the final bosses that are really the problem, and one in particular. The last area is disappointing. Larian had plans for it, but ran out of time, so it feels short and rather empty. But you'll be challenged--never fear. ;)
