I think it was at the early stages in the game . We were about to complete the slaver base in slums (building that looks like a ship)There was trap on one of the steps that leads to headquarters . Standard attack script caused losing control of the party (especially Minsc) Party got hit by trap. She came up with a dialog when half of my party was poisoned and very low in health and in the middle! of the fight . She started talking about her wings and etc . Well , it was enough for me to understand why Aerie is so much hated .

hahahahaha Image Image Image

that happens to me a lot of times, although not with aerie

eg would be imoen "now i remember why travelling with you was so much fun."

Maybe Aerie had a hard life, but she is still a whiner.

Being imprisoned by shadow lord and having to kill you lover-turned-to-shadow-monster is not walk in a park either, but do we hear Mazzy whining?

Viconia only tells about her hardships to her love interest, and even then not in a whining manner.

In fact almost all the characters have at least as hard life as Aerie, but only one even close in the whining department is Anomen.

I must say that the Aerie romance is *indeed * anoying(I made the romance using Cheat keys yesterday)and the end (I feel so USED)makes one go to Jaheira(happy) or viconia(well, she Did love you), But you can always fix that by choising Jaheira side or play a female character(despite all that curse Amoen, the romance is better that Aerie),However Nalia is more irritating Character,Her "For the needy" war cry is really getting on my nerves I only use her for the keep and the rescue Thing (plus I like Imoen better).

Yeah she just broke out in a rage telling Jaheira that she knew what she was up to and that I wanted her, not Jaheira... And Jaheira was like "Let her down easy".... and I herd that you dont even get to hit the sack with Aeire if you're playing a gentleman... SO damn, I let her down, I feel kind a bad.... she was like.... Dont talk to me..... awwww

The yawning, bitching and moaning of my entire party every time they don't get their beauty sleep...
"The spirit's willing, but these old and battered bones..." smack,
"Can we rest?..." smack,
"We must rest soon..." smack,
If you can't stand the heat...

Or how about failing to write a spell to your spellbook while you have boosted the chance to 98%!!!This happens quite often for me, and it doesn't even matter which level the spell is!

Aerie is not a good romance(bad ending) but still I like her(mostly because since I play as a Female) as a friend and a valuable party menber Romancing her is not very rewarding in the end(as Viconia(you get some nice things),Jaheira(happy) and Amoen(happy) is) since you dont even get her.
I will not join you Weasel, I may be Chaotic but I am chaotic good.

Aerie complaining about her being tired while her comrad Jaheira is fighting the evil druid in the pit. Talk about being pre-occupied with herself.

I am not an Aerie hater though, I find her quite the piece of artillery when properly equipped (spells and that sling that doesn't need bullets). But give me Vic or Jaheira as romantic interest any day.
Then darkness took me, and I strayed out of thought and time

Using Aerie is a judgment call...and it depends on your party. She can be awesome if you are like an inquisitor and don't really need high level mages to around...or a monk then you can have a party of 4 or less giving more exp since she is a jack of 2 trades. However her constant whining at inappropriate times is annoying no matter what...If you want her and not her whining just tell her to shut up...works for me.

Weasel I can join you but there is one problem. Okay maybe two if you don't kids in your party but that is not the point. The point is I see hunting spiders coming and they might smell my hate for Aerie Image Image. But if you want I will see in the planar sphere problem topic at 5pm in my time. Just figure out the right time. It is 22.20PM right now. I will be waiting and for all you Aerie lovers out there. Image

Imprisonment and maze are different spells. After maze you can still come back, it just takes some time. (Sometimes this can be a nice spell, your mainchar can't get kicked, since mine is currently a Bard, it's not all that bad) Imprisonment is irreversable. If it happens to one of your partymembers they're lost to you (like in hacked to pieces) and if it happens to you you're dead, permanently. (reload)

I think imprisonment is indeed very annoying. I also agree with Alexia about the female romances. I also hate desintegrate traps, my last character was a fighter-thief, so I used her as my thief in the party. Sometimes I was too lazy to check for traps and bang, no more main character. Image This has put me back hours in gameplaying because I forgot to save. (I know it's my own fault) The most annoying thing about it is the fact that most of the time there isn't even that big of a treasure to be found in the box with the trap.
Imprisonment is not totally permanent, just very hard to undo. The 9th level mage spell Freedom brings the character back, if you cast it at the spot they were imprisoned. But scrolls of that are hard to find, so you really have to get to 18th level to use it (you get 9th level spells then, but you have to remove the exp cap)

You guys are too rough on Aerie! Wouldn't you be somewhat freaked-out if you were stolen from your homeland as a child, imprisoned, tortured, and had some limbs chopped off??? Aerie rules, and when I get her her wings back, she'll lay the smack down on all you Avariel haters out there...

Then help us end her torture at the hands of the evil legions of Weasel, Jhareth! Join with us in the Planar Sphere topic, and we will show Weasel and his gang that nobody messes with Aerie!

Hm, yes, true; Aerie is quite annoying when she reminisces repeatedly about her wings, but if you choose to do the romance arc with her, she stops soon enough.

I then found Aerie very likeable. She romanticizes about the future, is a dreamer (if only because she's naive, but that's actually kind of cute), and is on good ground with most other characters in my party (I had a good-aligned party, and Jahiera and Aerie stop bickering once you choose one of em'). Aerie reminds me of Aeris from Final Fantasy VII, except I remember Aeris being a bit of an air-head (but then, I wasn't in the best of moods those days). The short story is that, in the end, I have a good impression of Aerie on my mind.

As for being a gentleman, well, I guess I'm something of a gentleman (I'm only 17, though).

In the end, Aerie is the innocent/naive child of the story, and I think that, despite (or possibly because of) her child-like whining, she plays that role just fine.

As for applicability, I didn't have any high-level mages by the end of the game (Imoen never got the experience she would have needed, despite many quests), so Aerie's casting ability was the envy of everyone else in the group. Lucky for her, I guess...
