What party?

Post by Chrizum »

What characters does your party have?
My party has:
PC (Chris) Level 5 Druid
Khalid (equipped with Spider's Bane and gloves of expertise, he's REAL strong)
Jaheira (not sure if she does a good job, any character I can take instead of her?)
Imoen (she's just plain cool, I made her a Invoker/Thief)
Yeslick (He's cute and strong)
Xan (weirdo)

I usually drop jaheira for branwen, but keep khalid. I do this by killing jahiera then dropping her so that khalid doesnt leave.
F/T PC
Kagain
Khalid
Imoen
Branwen
Xan

Im thinking of making a few changes as I go along.

Let's see. Imoen is a very good NPC, keep her definitely. Same goes for Yeslick. I would indeed dump Jaheira, if I were you, especially since you've already got a druid and a fighter/cleric in your team. So I would switch her with Coran: he is a very good NPC, a killer with the bow and he can might fill in the thief skills, that Imoen doesn't have (after you dual-classed her, she won't achieve anymore thiefpoints). Also, he comes with two nice quests. This would mean that you would have to kill Jaheira. Though you can also throw her out together with Khalid, and replace him with Kivan or Ajantis.

My party:
PC - Half-Elf, Fighter, Neutral Good. A very jolly lad ;)
Imoen - Just as a thief. Nice to have around, and also good in combat with her Light Crossbow of Speed
Minsc - God, you gotta love Minsc. The funny woodsman, great in melee
Dynaheir - Started off weak, but is now quite good. I often use her spells in the big fights, and there she does most of the damage with her fireball spells and magic missles
Coran - Charming, can open any lock you want. Good with the bow
Yeslick - Strong in melee. He is also the fellow who pumps up my party before the big fights, and also heals them afterwards. Plus, it's always cool to have a dwarf around :)

They're all something like level 5 or 6. I'm almost sure that I'm keeping this party. This will be my hero save-game.
I'm also thinking about playing the game the evil way, after I played it through. That would be something like this:

PC - Gnome, Fighter/Thief, Neutral Evil
Montaron
Xzar
Edwin
Shar-Teel
Viconia

But that one is still a thought, since I haven't even started with it

I've always tried two melee fighters up front and then four missile folks in back. You kill almost everything before it even reaches your party and not needing as many healing spells b/c you never take damage is a huge plus! I've tried all sorts of parties, but my present one is as follows:

PC - Emoril, Mage (Sling+1)
NPC - Khalid, Fighter (Long Sword+2)
NPC - Jaheira, Fighter/Druid (Sling+1)
NPC - Imoen, Thief (Short Bow+1, Dagger of Venow for backstabbing)
NPC - Kivan, Ranger (Composite Longbow+1, and he has three times as many kills as everybody else, b/c he whacks anybody with less than 30 hit points before they even get close)
NPC - Branwen, Cleric (Warhammer+2)

I've finished the game before with the same group, but with a PC fighter with "Varscona" and Khalid weilding "Kondar". I want to try an Evil Dwarf Fighter/Cleric the next time through.

After you've cleared the Bandit Camp, you will be able to access the Cloakwood Forest: when you're at the Friendly Arm Inn, just travel west. This is also the area where you will find a vacation bungalow of a wealthy noble from Baldurs Gate called Aldeth Sashenstar. In that area you will find Coran, in the northern part, standing on the bridge. Here, a helpfull link: http://gamebanshee.com/baldursgate/loca ... ar2200.php

Well, I'm off now for about two weeks. I hope you'll find your way through the dazzling world of the Sword Coast. Bye!

My Party

My party currently has:
PC - Lvl 8 Paladin
NPC - Minsc Lvl 8 Ranger
NPC - Yeslick Lvl 6 Cleric/Fighter
NPC - Kivan Lvl 8 Ranger
NPC - Coran Lvl 7 Thief/Fighter
NPC - Dynaheir Lvl 8 Invoker

- This party honestly rocks. I can't remember all the weapons they have right off the top of my head. But my main PC is the only full time brawler. Minsc, Kivan and Coran all have Magical Composite Longbows; Yeslick and Dynaheir both have +1 slings with +2 bullets. Most of the the mid to lower level monsters never get anywhere near my party because of the shear amount of missiles being hurled at them! All of them (accept for Dynaheir) can brawl if need be though, seeing that they all have magical weapons. The only problem I've had is, Coran really sucks at finding and disarming traps (especially in Durlag's Tower--yikes!) and Dynaheir is limited on the kinds of spells she can memorize. But Corans excellent marksmanship and stealth tend to make up for his weakness and Dynaheirs Fireballs and Magic Missiles far outway her lack of spells. :D
Mitch:You know, um, something strange happened to me this morning... Chris Knight: Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?Mitch: No... Chris Knight:Why am I the only one who has that dream?
