Different character crystal bonuses, no penalties to LS/DS force powers. I'm not sure but I think LS/DS force penalties are more than the force benefits for your opposing side and your own side respectively.

I have to say no. You don't get either bonus, you cannot wear alignment specific items and the reduced penalties are nothing really worth it. If you're fully DS you can easily cast Heal or Valor like 10 times in a row, and the same if you're LS with Storm or Scream. You're just a little more limited, but it has the advantage of being able to cast your side's powers nearly infinitely.

neutral characters can where Jolee's robe!
Without the light there can be no dark. Without the dark there can be no light. Even the most devout Jedi Master needs the dark side. The most evil Sith still needs the light.

While the benefits are certainly not as pronounced as being light side or dark side, there are a a couple "neutral" specific items (i.e. Jolee's Robe, Gray Jedi Robes). While they are nothing spectacular, its at least more than they got in the first game....

Well, I haven't found any items that are neutral-specific. I don't know about Jolee's robe, but my totally-light character CAN wear a Grey Jedi Robe.
