Fable: The Lost Chapter
This is unbelievable, they are gonna release another Fable, titled the Lost Chapter. I don't know about you guys, but I think they are playing us for our money. Either way, check it out, do a search on google or go straight to the Microsoft site and find it.
Tell me what you think, I honestly think this is bull how they would release this for the PC instead of Xbox, what about us, the people that still loyal to Fable? I bet they didn't give a damn before deciding to put it on PC.
(EDIT)Here's the link: Fable

Well it sounds like it's the PC release of the X-Box Fable, with some "additional content." Meaning, that's its the version X-Box users have already, with a bit added. So, I imagine this is why its being released on PC as opposed to X-Box, to reach the PC RPG audience, who don't have an X-Box. Still, its difficult to guess how much new content will be included. With the X-Box community screaming about the lack of content in Fable, it may attempt to placate that concern some. Though, I doubt they would add that much.

They're going to make more money: that's the reason for it. And they're going to have to add content, because PC gamers simply won't accept an RPG that delivers 10-15 hours of content. There's a long history stretching back to before 1980 and up to now of RPGs featuring 50-100+ hours of gameplay.
Whether the extra content really delivers anything attractive remains to be seen. My experience of the industry over the last quarter-century leads me to think it will be quickly generated, uninteresting material; and that would be very in line with the cynicism surrounding the hard sell of Xbox-based Fable, filled with empty claims, lots of visible hype, pumped up idiots screaming it was the be-all and end-all of existence...followed by a largely uncreative, very short RPG. But I could be wrong. Bets?

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

That's my inclination, as well. I imagine the content they will add will be shallow side-quests, or, perhaps, the completion of a dragon encounter, but nothing truly remarkable. I find it astounding that Fable sold so well, considering how short it is. It's an okay game that could have been a great game, if it was over twice its present length, and carried with it a more intricate plot. Still, my guess is that it will sell better on the PC than many much better PC games like Bloodlines.

You should look back at some of the threads in this folder before the title appeared. We had many posters literally praising it to the skies without any code having been reviewed by a magazine, much less played by themselves. And when I suggested they were setting themselves up for a hard fall based on nothing but PR copy, several condescendingly laughed at my attitude, saying they were more positive about life(!). In other words, as PT Barnum once said, nobody ever goes broke by underestimating the intelligence of the public.

I can understand excitement brewing about the game after a preview was released (though not at the early juncture you mentioned). The game has a solid concept behind it (essentially playing the career of a hero), strives to offer more freedom than a typical RPG, and has a very light "fun" feel for an RPG (without being corny or kiddie). Moreover, it feels like a "living world." Experiencing a small dose of this would certainly would cause me to be excited about it.
The game falls into mediocrity in the midst of playing it. It's just far too light on content. This is accentuated by the fact you're suppose to be playing the career of a hero. It's difficult to feel that you've *played* a career when you've met so few people, visited so few towns, and done so few quests. Anyway, this has all been discussed before. I liked the game, I just wanted so much more from it. Hopefully, Fable 2 (I'm assuming it will be developed) will be a place where the developers learn from their mistakes. I'm certain the cries about content and the game have reached their ears, as I read them on most forums concerning the game. Still, we'll see. I don't have high expectations for the Lost Chapter. I imagine it will sell well, but offer little new to those who have already played the first one. You may be correct in suggesting that hardcore CRPG fans will only give it a glance because of the content issues; but I imagine the game will appeal to a larger audience than that, partially do the aggressive adverstising. Still, with any luck, it will have at least some more substantial content for new players of the game. Somehow, I'm expecting the new content to consist more of "new hair styles" and "tatoo" choices with one or two extra missions thrown in, more than anything else, though.

Update: Guess they are stretching the fronts, new weapons, towns, buildings, NPCs, clothing, armor, side quests, story quests, items, bosses. One of the building is a brothel, no kidding, I wonder what they are on...
One thing I don't get is the graphics, they had to make it ultra pretty don't they. Jeez, FF7 got off being ugly.

Heh. FF7 was phenomenal in terms of graphics for its day. It certainly was going for a darker feel than Fable does, though.
Out of curiousity where are you getting the details you mention? All I'm seeing on the official site is vague generalities.

LoL I get my info on Fable before even IGN thought about getting them. I do the insider trick. Ask Sam whois a Lionhead Employee, who also work besides Mr.Molyneux himself. Don't trust game sites or the so called "Offcial sites" to give you detail because all they are for is advertising.
You gotta email Sam. I won't reveal his email address because:
1.) It is against the rules.
2.) It's unfair for people to email him 24/7 about it.
3.) He won't answer anymore questions from anyone.

i realy hope that they will "re-add" all of the things that were romoved from the original fable.
by this i mean quests such as the dragon cliffs.
the ability to "customize" weapons and clothing.
affecting your surroundings (chopping down trees, carving your name in tree stumps, etc.)
theres probably more that i cant think of right now

Ahh sounds like another money grab form Mickey Soft.
Though I do like the idea of having a brothel. It would add some fun to the game.
Now my question is could I play a female character this time? How about playing one of the other heroes stories like your moms, Scarlet rose, thunder, Even whisper? Maybe more then one path?
Will the children in Bowerstone south be killable this time? And will I be able to sneak weapons in(boy could you imagine the field day you could have slaughtering the town)?
Biggest question of the day is will actually get a game that takes more then a few hours to finish and will it cost me more them $50?
Well hopefully it will be decent. I am not expecting much but I can hope.
