I'm not dead yet
Bleh. Since becoming a Battletech player, I have a very hard time watching any Mecha-anime. My brain can't wrap itself around the skewed reality of the mechanics
As for GitS: SAC 2nd Gig, yes I have been following it. Sadly, it's not quite being aired in North America yet, nor is it scheduled for a DVD release until May, I believe (Much like the first series, last year was).
The beauty of this title, though, lies in the fact that the backstory is already established, in both Ghost in the Shell movies, as well as the first season, meaning 2nd Gig breaks you right into the story arc. The characters, setting, and backdrop are all laid out, allowing for a very strong openning, with a compelling story.
I can definatly put together some details on it if anyone is that interested.

But still, you sholdn't judge animes because they're famous (like Rorouni Kenshin) because that only means that the series are good, right??? Kenshin has a really grat storyline with amasing characters and voice acting. There is also a strong sense of resoning behind it, there is a point to it. In my opinion RK is the best anime I've ever watched and I've watched about 100 different series, so I think that gives me a say in this matter. Samurai Deeper Kyo is Ok but not anything really great, it's too slow and silly. Nad I don't even want to mention Samurai Champloo (Rapping Samurais??!!! Oh my God, how stupid is that???)
You guys are my best friends, we've always been together, we're four of a kind laughing all day and palling away, we're best friends!

You have a good point there. I am almost to the end of Cowboy Bebop and I am scratching my head alot going, this is a classic?
@ Aegis: yes, I would like more details on the new GitS series. Thanks!

For that very reasoning, I try to watch the series before I comment on it. I usually give a 10 episode grace period, and if I find that I'm forcing myself to keep watching, I drop it after 10.
As for Kenshin, I just didn't like it. It moves along too slowly, the dialogue was bothersome, and the animation in certain parts seemed jumpy almost.
Because of these things, my interests fell more on titles such as Samuarai Deeper Kyo, or Samurai 7 (though, be careful of series based off of mangas. They tend to stick the ending badly).
@Than: Cowboy Bebop is amazing for many reasons. They were able to create a 26 episode arc, which almost every episode (save the ones with Vicious) are complete stand alone episodes, while maintaing character integrity. The style of animation is slick, and fluid, and well done through and through. one of my personal favourite touches of the series is the music, but then, I like the jazz route they took.
What did it for me, though, with Bebop, was the ending. That sealed the deal.
Also, I'll get right on the SAC's info for you.

I appreciate that, Aegis.
I intend to finish the Cowboy Bebop series because many people, like yourself, have given it such high recommendations. I am still hopeful that it will come together in the end.

Has anyone been watching the Naruto series? I think it does alright in terms of the characters and storyline, and the fight scenes are great, they've thought up some real fun and unique special abilities for the characters.
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach

NAruto is one of those series I dread to look into for a couple reasons:
First, the fanboy fan-base. I've been to too many cons in which everyone and their grand-mother is cosplaying as something from Naruto. In the past, I've found series that garner that much north-american attention tend to not impress me in the slightest. So far, the trend has held true, in the regard that I can't stand the mainstream anime that is shown on NA TV.
Second, the scope of it. Last I checked, it was 60+ episodes. For me to sit down and watch it, I'd have to devote a lot of time, time of which I don't have considering the amount of other titles I'm currently involved with, not to mention school, work and a social life.
Third, it looks like a Dragon Ball Z-esque type of anime, in which the only real plot driving aspect is fighting. I gave up on those anime's sometime ago.

Or Samurai Champloo, which you should like because it is similar in some ways to Cowboy BeBop.![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/)

Been sometime, but here's a small update.
For Final Fantasy fans everywhere, our long wait is over! Square Enix has finally released Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children in Japan! It hits North American Theatres in Novemeber (provided they don't delay it).
If you can get your hands on a copy, I recommend it wholly. It is truly an amazing piece, and it puts the previous Final Fantasy movie to utter shame. See it.

In other news, a few months ago Hong Kong released a movie based on the Initial D series.

i hated anime until one day several years ago, i was watching adultswim and stayed up to watch cowboy bebop. the episode was toys in the attic. the weirdness and final moral at the end caught my attention and i've been hooked since. if you saw the series and want more cowboy bebop has a movie and a game coming out in 2006 (ps2)
samurai champloo doesn't quite flow like bebop. i like champloo, but it is harder to get into it (at least for me). it almost feels like something is missing.
the only anime i watch is what's on adultswim.
umm, recently adultswim play escaflowne (the movie?) can some explain the point of it. was it a series and then a movie? personally, if i had a huge mecha-dragon thingie, i'd use it (maybe even for good)

Appleseed was good. However, it was rather shallow, and there is no doubt that it was an early work of the original author.
