most useless weapon

Post by Lucian »

my take is the axe of hrothgar from the icewind dale item merchant

is a norm +3 axe..but it adds +1 cha and +1 wis...totally worthless...neither clerics or druids are able to use it..and who would use an axe with only a cha bonus..there is much better ones out there.

Well it is still a +3 axe after all. I can think of weapons a lot more crappy than that. Like for example a nonmagical axe in a party were noone got any proficiency slots with axes. ;-P

I agree that it's a pretty odd bonus to put on an axe but considering that a high wisdom score adds to the save vs spells and high charisma helps save gold it might be some reasoning behind it.

The best weapon in the game, in my opinion, is the spear of kuldahar +3. I'm very suprised that noone else found the bug on that weapon that makes it so incredibly powerful. I never use it of course. Makes the game really boring.

Care to elaborate on the bug?? I am interested in finding out what exactly that makes it so powerful ( never touched that item at all )

Actually, there are no worse weapons per se ( not counting "mundane" ones )

Some weapons offer benefits which may seem illogical/irrelevant to one, but essential to the other, like they say, one man's meat is another man's poison

Wisdom adds to save vs spells for certain spells only

( i think itz ones that affect the mind, not sure )

AFAIK, BG2 does not implement this

Black Razor .You get it too late in the game.

Well Nagash. I am loathe to post these kinds of bugs but... As you know the Spear of Kuldahar adds 8 hitpoints to maximum HP. What one does not immediatly recognise is the strange bug that if you are wounded and equip/deequip/equip the spear (quickly switching between the quickweapon slots does the trick) then you heal up all damage.

Use the appropriate script (the custom made TWfights comes in to mind) and you regenerate pretty darn quickly so to speak. I once used the spear with a druid. In the end that druid got very boring indeed to play with since nothing could even wound him him unless he was paralysed. :-(

This is prepatch information but I doubt interplay have corrected this bug since it is not commonly known.
