i have been having an annoying problem with my xbox live connection and it would be REALLY helpful if someone could give me some information about it.
here's the problem...
whenever i am playing an xbox game online (pretty much Halo 2 and KOTOR 2), i lag out of the game whenever my phone rings. I am using a standard ethernet cable to connect my xbox to my 2wire modem, and i have all the DNS and IP settings set to Automatic. I went on the 2wire homepage and found all the specific DNS and IP addresses, default gateway, subnet mask, etc. etc., for my broadband connection, so I could configure the network settings manually. Same thing happened - i lagged out of my game a few seconds after my phone rang, and only when my phone rang. Please, someone give me some info on this problem, i would be very grateful.
thanks guys
What kind of connection do you have? If it is dialup some modems disconnect you to allow the incoming call to get through rather than giving the caller an occupied signal. If it is an xDSL connection you need a frequency splitter, else the modem will freak if you recieve an incoming call.
yeah i do have some sort of DSL connection, so I'll try that frequency splitter solution. I was thinking that i would need some sort of splitter or surge protector, but wasn't sure. Anyways, thanks a ton for the help. I'll post another reply to let you know if it worked.
