Yeah, I hate Rap and Hip Hop. My ex-girlfriend liked it alot, so I tried to listen and give it a chance for her, but it never took. It's just not me. I don't relate to it at all. I like Rock/Alternative/80's. I do like the styles of Linkin Park and POD though. If hip hop/Rap is mixed with a killer electric guitar, then I'm down!
Mitch:You know, um, something strange happened to me this morning... Chris Knight: Was it a dream where you see yourself standing in sort of sun-god robes on a pyramid with a thousand naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?Mitch: No... Chris Knight:Why am I the only one who has that dream?

'Rap is one c away from crap'
Not that I hate all of it, I just listened to a rap song the other day which was cool. It was Big Shot from Eyedeas and Abilities. But thats very rare, me listening to rap or hip hop, 99% of the music I listen to is made out of a guitar, a bass, a drummer and vocals, or in other words I listen to rock.

There's only two types of music I truly loathe, country and western.
That said, any knowledge I had of rap and hip/hop ended with Dr. Dre's The Chronic, still arguably the best album of the 90's. I'm not sure where Outkast fits into the mix. I consider them to be a genre unto themselves.

I think there are a few I've heard that are decent and have talent. Most came out when you were like 4 though. I can listen to some of what my brother is into when it's just the two of us and we're drinking, otherwise it drives me up the wall.
I agree with the country thing, if I get stuck listening to country I get nasty and belligerant. Happy music too, I don't do "happy music" it irritates me to no end. Metal, rock, hardcore, some rapcore are my things. Death metal should go away though, whats the point of writing lyrics if it all sounds like a dog choking and growling?

pah! Today, I have been listening to CDs by Edan, Roots Manuva, Aspects, Jurassic 5 and Ugly Duckling.
(these people are rappers)
I'm not really into the posturing of the big famous rappers, and I tend to prefer more old school stuff.

yeah, death metal sucks too.... It kind of reminds me of Jackson Pollocks Artwork...anybody who's had a bad day at work or a terrible argument with their boyfriend/girlfriend could easily produce the same results. They're just smart enough to get paid for it!!

99% of what I listen to is Hip Hop. But I'm sure that not more than 1% of you know about 98% of the artists I like. It's mostly underground Hip Hop - except a couple of MCs and groups that are more or less known like Jay-Z, Nas, Mobb Deep, Gang Starr, Wu-Tang Clan. I can't stand that Pseudo-Hip-Hop-Stuff that pops up every now and then like Nelly, 50 Cent or P. Diddy. In my opinion that's more Pop than Pop itself.
Hip Hop lives in the underground mostly. Those who don't know the underground, don't know Hip Hop. At least that's the way I think.
There are rappers I listen to because of what they say. Then there are rappers I listen to because of how they say something. I love the puns, I can identify with some or most of it (<= of what *I* listen to), I like the beats - Hip Hop's all I need.

It's nice to see you base your music opinions on the visual appearence of the artists.
That still doesn't explain why you like 50cent - he's one ugly sunava*****.
I'm not sure where Outkast fits into the mix. I consider them to be a genre unto themselves.
Outkast is Dirty South, a hip-hop subgenre combining rap, hip-hop, and dance music(often breaks). It is named because it originates in the grittier urban settings of the southern United States, where it is most popular. It's really popular here in Florida(or was at least, sorta on the way out) and I kinda like it.
I like all genres of music, but for rap mostly I like pre-1990 stuff.
