Here are Jarlaxle's in-game stats:

Jarlaxle: Lawful-Evil male Elf
HP: 121
Class: lvl 17 fighter

STR: 14
DEX: 20
CON: 15
INT: 18
WIS: 15
CHA: 18

Resistances:
Magic: 84

Saving Throws:
Death: 3
Wand: 5
Polymorph: 4
Breath: 4
Spells: 6
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

He should have the following equipment:

You can't actually fight him anyway, I think...
And what's with the "?!" at the rapier?

In the books, I think he should be:
Jarlaxle
Chaotic Neutral
Swashbuckler or Fighter

His equipement:
Cloak of Displacement
Eye patch that protects against psionics
Boots of Stealth
Ring of Fire resistance
Ring of Dimension Doors
Many other Rings
Hat of Diamydra(sp?) Summoning

The books have differences from PnP, like Artemis Entreri should be a kensai/assassin (IMO) and be neutral (not lawful).
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

I don't know about the kensai bit, but's he is definetly a fighter dual to thief.
I think the stats were lv 12 fighter lv13 thief.
Drizzt IMO is like a level 20 fighter, and Eterni like a level 18 fighter.

Drizzt was always a ranger, hence the dual-weapons. He "became" a ranger in like the second book. I think Artemis is closer to swashbuckler than anything else because of his dual-weapon use and his theiving abilities, but he never backstabs per se. But he could be a fighter/thief or fighter of course.

No, Drizzt was a level 18 fighter in the Underdark after training with Zak and at the academy. In 3rd edition Drizzt became a barbarian roaming the Underdark in "Exile". Then in "Sojourn" he is taught the way of the rangers. So drizzt was a level 18 fighter that became a barbarian (the hunter rage), that became a level 16 ranger towards the later books. SO that makes his skill in fighting (thaco) like that of a level 22,23,24 fighter in the later books. I believe Drizzt gets almost as good of a warrior as Zaknafein and may go beyond in servant's of the shard and the newer series.

The "?!" shows my astonishment that a high level drow would wield a +1 rapier as his main weapon!

A rapier is the kind of sword that the three musketeers use.

Entreri appears first in the Icewinddale trilogy, book two. He´s considered to be Drizzt´s nemesis and vice versa. I have his stats somewhere but I can´t find them. Think he´s an assasin dualled to fighter but I´m not sure. For both Drizzt and Entreri goes that their pnp versiones have "special" abilities. Drizzt has stealth abilities ( 99% in climb walls, move silently, and hide in shadows as well as 60 % climb walls). He is also able to backstab (damage x 5) , If he hits by more than 5 he scores double damage (also for the backstab!!!) and has a 10% + 3%/level difference to target chance of killing the foe instantly!!

As you can see this fellow is a nasty opponent for even the mightyest party. :)

Thorin, thanks for your complete account, I guess I meant to say, Drizzt has always been a ranger since he's been 'topside'. Since there's no "dual-class" rules that he fits into based on D&D, I've always seen him portrayed as his last class--ranger.
